Hey Monk! Thanks so much for that - I'm missing being around here too. But things are busy at work, and I felt like I needed a bit of a break from the boards too. But I'll probably be coming back a bit more soon...
...hope things are OK for you too...
P.S. Quite funny looking back over this discussion :)
P.P.S. Why have all my US and UK's turned into you.S and you.K's?! Wierd...

Hmm? u r serius???
edit:
It's the profanity filter -- it doesn't actually filter profanity, but it filters 'u' to 'you' because that annoys me. :P

Okay, Ren, I don't want to talk about the political implications of Libertarianism. I want to talk about the philosophy of libertarianism.
This has become so ingrained into my own personal philosophy that I have EXTREME difficulty being manipulative or otherwise attempt to control others. I have EXTREME difficulty when in my personal life I would do anything that would have me control another's actions. I've done this in marriages as well as relationships.
I sat around watching a man emotionally abuse me and would NEVER allow myself to say a word because I was so afraid of exerting some sort of control over the situation. All the while recognizing that other people WERE attempting to manipulate me. How very odd that this philosophy is SO very ingrained in me that I could not/would not allow myself to assert my needs and wants for fear that this would in some way create an obligation upon someone else.
Odd, no?
All the while I'm dealing with others that have no qualms whatsoever with manipulating and forcing their will upon others. Puts us at an extreme disadvantage in the everyday social dynamics with our fellow humans? Does it? Where am I wrong here?
