Police scanner stuff. Someone taken into custody minutes ago possibly matches description of Brian Laundrie. I heard it with my own ears. It could be BS.
More...I stole this quote.

Bonita Road in Sarasota that the scanner call came from is 10 miles from Carlton Reserve

Surprisingly, I've been completely unaware of this Missing White Woman(tm). This forum was my only exposure to the story.

Seems the news is not so homogenized as it once was.
Thanks for your contribution, Ostrich.
A quick poll of my friends shows they are also similarly out of the loop! It’s so strange having grown up in the era where we were all constantly exposed to Nancy Grace’s latest thoughts on all the juicy middle class white crime victim gossip.

So I guess MSNBC is part of this systemic racism given their extensive coverage of the Gabby Petito case.
That's not what systemic racism is, moron.

That is not what he said, moron.

He said he guessed that MSNBC is PART of systemic racism given their extensive coverage of the Gabby Petito case. This would suggest that they are contributing to, or suffer from, missing white woman syndrome.

Now, if you do not think that missing white woman syndrome is part of, or an aspect of, systemic racism, please state your case.
That's precisely what he said, dip-crap. Because he's a moron, like you. Systemic racism is typically defined as “the formalization of a set of institutional, historical, cultural and interpersonal practices within a society that more often than not puts one social or ethnic group in a better position to succeed, and at the same time disadvantages other groups in a consistent and constant manner that disparities develop between the groups over a period of time.”

Missing white woman syndrome has nothing to do with producing disproportionate economic outcomes for minorities.

Oh, but missing white woman syndrome is exhibited when an institution, like MSNBC, participates in a the cultural and interpersonal practices within the society to make money by exploiting the missing white women stories at the expense of the other missing people who are not white women. It has quite a bit to do with economic outcomes, or MSNBC would make a different choice. I am not sure what makes you think that MSNBC's collaboration with this racism is not part of the system.
Missing white woman syndrome is caused by the public's tendency to be more interested in missing white women. The public is also mostly white. They're more interested in missing white women for the same reason they're more interested in missing humans than missing pets. The media covers what people are interested in. The recent trend with Gabby Petito was driven by social media more than anything else. Social media created the demand for coverage, and the media provided because that's what the media does. It is that simple. Nothing to do with racism, systemic racism or what not.

AP: Gabby Petito story boosted by social media, true-crime craze

If your argument is that missing black women are economically disadvantaged because the media is making sure the missing white women make the money is beyond stupid, and is just a desperate attempt to make a connection with systemic racism which is something neither you nor ajax really believes exists anyway. You're just trolling. Media outlets making money off of stories about missing white women in no way disadvantages missing black women economically.

That was not my argument. You are conflating things.

My point is that if there is such a thing as missing white women syndrome, MSNBC is a player in that. And, economic factors are at play, both in effect and influence.

Focus, Alph. Focus.
After rereading your remarks I edited my post.

The Petito case is unique in many ways, not least of which is the fact that there is bodycam video footage of the victim crying, prior to the attack. Then we have the boyfriend showing up in her car while refusing to speak with law enforcement. Then he disappears. This is all like a scripted True Crime story if you think about it, and I have to admit, I'm guilty of watching Forensic Files on a regular basis and true crime stories the same as most other Americans. It really does tend to draw you in, wondering what the outcome will be.

The only reason George Floyd's story got such coverage is because of released social media video footage of the actual crime.
