One thing that gets me with this, is that he knew he was being recorded.

If this is stuff he's doing on the record, it's not exactly a stretch to imagine there are a myriad of instances that he was showing random people (and possibly foreign assets) classified documents.

Exactly. I doubt that this was a one off exposure of classified docs. It just happens to be a recording of one instance out of god knows how many other instances wherein he compromised national security. Any current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces should be pissed off as hell hearing that. Pretty sure he ordered the war plans himself. Time will tell...

From what I understand from a recent brief (and humorously cryptic) conversation with a family member (retired Full Colonel), we have and maintain basic invasion/war plans for a huge swath of countries (in a few instances, even allies).

That being said, it's definitely possible that what Trump had was a simplified version that was prepared specifically for him upon his request.

Any country with a military worthy of the name has ALWAYS done this. Even a relatively small military operation lasting a couple of days takes a lot of pre-planning (transport, rations, ammunition, casualty evacuation and so on for a whole long list). If you only start planning once the need for some particular operation arises, then by the time you are ready it may well be too late.
