Re: MAGA - the Truth
Interesting. I had to explain how the rejected Biden plan that would have taxed total held asset value would have worked, including it being specifically written to target folks who held a minimum of $100 million in asset value and paid less than a low tier tax rate. Effective, it closed a loophole only available to the ultra wealthy. But of course it was being presented in conservative media as Harris' plans for taxing the everyman into servitude.
I don't know about you, Ajax. It sometimes seems like you have internally conflicting political views you don't recognize are in conflict because you haven't attempted to organize them into a coherent worldview.

In case anyone is still unconvinced Ajax isn’t a troll.ajax18 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 12:04 amWho is claiming that taxes should be imposed only on people wealthier than themselves? But I don't think that the uber wealthy should pay less than their share of taxes than poor people. As it is now some of the wealthiest of us are getting away with paying far less taxes than the less wealthy and, in some cases, none at all due to loopholes in tax laws and policies established at the behest of the wealthy donors. I don't think it reasonable that the uber wealthy who already have more money than they know what to do with should be entitled to enormous tax breaks.

My opinion? That you should learn to answer a simple question.ajax18 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 11:32 pmI don't know Jersey Girl. What is your opinion?

Reagan negotiating to extend the suffering of the American hostages and their families by promising the Ayatollah the release of their funds in Switzerland was a horrible thing. I suspect today's MAGAs would find that praiseworthy.ajax18 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 12:04 amI think Carter was a very underrated and underappreciated President and that his worth would only have become more obvious had he served a second term. Reagan screwed him over by negotiating a deal with Iran to not release the hostages while Carter was still president.

I did answer the question. I have no idea what answer you're looking for. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has 4 young men and two young women out in our ward. The first responsibility falls upon the young man or woman to pay their entire savings for the opportunity to serve as one of the Lord's missionaries. Then the missionary's family paid the $425/month. I make a point to give to the missionaries directly and give to the ward mission fund because I believe in what we're doing. There's been times when I couldn't due to dental implants for my wife or other unforeseen expenses; I wasn't arrested. I wasn't locked out of church. It was funded by volunteer donations, not by IRS agents and partisan political enforcement.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 4:50 amMy opinion? MAGA truth update:
- HR McMaster says he won’t work for Trump again.
- Trump sets the stage last night to flee the Sept. 10th ABC debate.
- Oddly enough, Ajax18 parrots the Harris/Walz tax plan.

Oh really, they're opening their mouth on policy now? I can't blame her from running away from the Biden/Harris policies that got us where we are today. But who really believes that Kamala Harris wants lower inflation, will stop printing money, or enforce the border?- Oddly enough, Ajax18 parrots the Harris/Walz tax plan.

Kamala has done more to reduce Trumpflation as a candidate already than anyone on the RIght wants to admit:
Walmart Prices Going Down Hands Kamala Harris a Huge Win
1. What the Democrats have been saying about corporate price gouging has now been validated as factual.
2. Corporations are responding to the Democrat's threat to crack down on price gouging by preemptively dropping prices on thousands of products.
Walmart Prices Going Down Hands Kamala Harris a Huge Win
This proves at least two points. The retail giant is set to slash prices on more than 7,000 items, including groceries, with just over two months left before polling day. "As it relates to value, we're lowering prices," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a call with investors regarding second-quarter earnings, according to CNBC. "We have less upward pressure, but there are some that are still talking about cost increases, and we're fighting back on that aggressively because we think prices need to come down."
Overall inflation was flat for the quarter for the retailer, and revenue growth came in due to selling more units instead of charging higher prices, Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey told CNBC. "We want to drive everyday low prices," Rainey added on the call. "We do not intend to achieve any of our margin performance by passing this along to our customers and members in the form of higher prices."
Walmart is not the only retailer to take this step. According to The New York Times, Swedish furniture behemoth Ikea has lowered prices three times in the past year. Best Buy has reduced prices on its appliances, and crafts chain Michaels said it has cut the cost of 5,000 items including canvases and T-shirts.
