Kimmel lied.
Nope.

If you think so, point out the lie.

Hey Res,

Gald to see you back posting.

Kimmel lied.
What did Kimmel lie about?
Half of the citizens in this country.
And what has Trump not lied about?
The importance of border security.

I don't really care about Kimmel (I don't watch any of these late-night people) and I am not feeling compelled to mourn over a filthy rich elite guy who lost a gig. Truth: He lost his gig because of ratings ($$$$) - This isn't about the First Amendment - Relax.

Okay. So would you say Trump is a PPOS or a POSS? At least we are not tangled in a twisted mess about the first amendment and we can all agree that Trump is a POS and Kimmell, bless his heart, may have lost his job because of a POS. Even though, we know it was the affiliate things that wanted him out.
I'm honestly not sure how I'd ultimately describe Trump. It's hard to distill him down to a single sentence, given just how vast and long he's been engaged in various levels of turdery. Being involved in an insurance scheme to profit off the deaths of sick Jewish kids, the slum lord antics against elderly people, stealing from and bullying small businesses, the predation of women and children, the infidelity, stealing from charities, and on and on. There are plenty of POS's in the world that don't even scratch the surface of what Trump has done.

As for Kimmell... I'm stuck painfully aware of how flawed I am personally, because I'm having trouble finding sympathy. Partially because I've never really liked the guy, but I also think I might be getting burned out from everything that's happened in the last months. I think it's insane that the President of the United States tried to leverage the Federal government to punish some speech on a late-night talk show that maybe gets a million viewers a night. Seeing people try to defend that, or thinking that's a good thing is so unbelievably un-American to me. That said, I think that Kimmel was probably an easy sacrifice to appease the affiliates. He'll probably land another gig, but I imagine most people that watched him probably did so because they were stoned and the remote was too far away.

I think people tune into Colbert. People inadvertently land on Kimmell.

(Sorry for the ramble; I hope it makes sense... it's the end of the day, and the caffeine that's fueled me is starting to pitter out.)

This is a fact. With this explanation, clearly ceeboo did not lie. Kimmel is a pig and he lost his job for being a liability with bad ratings.

ceeboo, can you at least acknowledge that a lot of people got their feelings hurt because Kimmel got his feelings hurt?

I’m reminded of how Trump was fired by NBC and ‘The Apprentice’ killed off when the studio disagreed with remarks he made about Mexican immigrants during his post-escalator announcement in 2015 that he was running for President.

Shame on you, Stu. Trump was elected to bring down grocery prices, kill inflation, slash the price of gas, end the war in Ukraine the next day and cut our energy bills in half, and that’s exactly what he hasn’t done, so don’t you go reminding everyone about the fact that none of this has happened.

Bad Stu. Bad, bad naughty Stu.

I know - I wrote it.

What about the "bad faith" assertion though?
Kimmel is a pig and he lost his job for being a liability with bad ratings.
Yeah - It probably will not shock you to learn that I was/am not a Kimmel fan.
ceeboo, can you at least acknowledge that a lot of people got their feelings hurt because Kimmel got his feelings hurt?
Consider it acknowledged.

For the sake of the 'tism, and because information is fun. ABC doesn't have a broadcasting license. Or more specifically, there isn't a singular license for ABC. Individual affiliates do. ABC owns some of its affiliates, but to pull and/or cancel ABC's licensees to broadcast would require cancelling the broadcasting licenses of hundreds of independent (and in some cases, privately owned) stations who are ABC affiliates. I imagine that might have been part of Nextstar and Sinclair's reasoning for their pressure, as it wasn't ABC's ability to broadcast on the line, it was all of the affiliates.

Also, it isn't through taxpayers. Stations pay for their own licenses and fees (there are application fees, regulatory fees, government doing government bureaucracy bleed everyone dry fees, etc.). Undoubtably there's some level of public funding overlap, because of the federal agencies involved, but they aren't getting licenses for free.

So, what Trump did was threaten to punish hundreds of private individuals and companies, for what Kimmell said. Super American. So much winning.

I don't know how people tend to totally miss the First Amendment while scrambling to worship the Second.

It amuses me that MAGAtes are using the exact arguments made against them when they were whining about cancel culture.

Hmph. So they were paying attention. They just lied about agreeing, because context. Shocker.

Works for me and for AI.

If we all were still using Tivo, Kimmell would not be recorded over the others. Simple. He ain't that good. He ain't that interesting. The Matt Damon inside joke, for example. If you have to explain it, it ain't that good.
