Personally it's about having the stones and self-confidence to admit you're wrong.

Obviously some people do, and most don't.

that is so true....

But why is it so hard for people to admit they are wrong or at least admit that a 46 year old woman just might know a little bit more than they do because i have lived through so much more...

I mean in a college class....a civil liberties class....I need to find a better way....to smart people down because most of the time I can't help that I know what I know...does that make sense????

I'm a little confused. When you say "smart someone down," do you mean "outsmart them?"

I think the only way that you can be too smart for your own good, is if you let your intelligence be tainted by arrogance.

For a fact, I've conducted myself in a manner that is "smarter" than most of my relatives. They give me hell for it. But I refuse to play the village idiot for them. Calling me crazy is enough. Still, even though I know my IQ and skills are superior due to the choices we've each made, I still love them. I still see them as my blood. I want to shoot them sometimes, but they're still my kin, and have potential in my eyes even now.

Sure you can outsmart people. It happens all the time. The worst instances are when you don't really mean to. I've had that happen at work, where I'm doing an older woman's job, and then she gets intimidated and catty. Happens.

If you've lived through it, then those kids need to step back, shut up, and listen. And if I were you, I'd tell them so. You're a grown ass woman. They haven't lived through it, shut up and do what they're supposed to do at college...LEARN.

I'd be throwing spitballs at the bamas...

Yes I have often wondered if I come across as to arrogant sometimes...that I do not know....

Yes and I don't mean to outsmart people, but like you say sometimes it happens...and boy have I been paying for it..

If you're dealing with guys, here's my thinking.
The feminine mind, that's your province.

With my infinite insights into the college male ego, here's what I've come up with---Anthropological style.

Man has this appendage called a penis. Man from the beginning of time has been fascinated with this appendage, and has from the beginning of time been comparing his penis with other men. Man ignorantly believes that he has to prove himself the bigger man, and vicarously will continue to try to prove his manhood through various means of conflict. This basic instinct has collided with modern beliefs such as wearing clothes and gender equality. Since men cannot compare their manhoods directly, they put on an elaborate display of secondary masculine traits, a sort of proxy manhood comparison.

Man has problems dealing with woman because woman doesn't have said manhood, and thus doesn't get involved in the juvenile acts of manhood comparison. Man erroniously believes that woman is inferior because of the lack of the defining male characteristic, and thus looks down on woman.

Man is an idiot.

I've always wondered what I would do if I were a man for one day...probably spend the whole day playing...use your imagination...

Of course you can be too smart for your own good. Alcohol has worked well to numb my qualms.
