[Shades,]
Would you mind addressing the following?
"Tired assed horse crap"
(Shouldn't that read tired ass horse crap? I've always thought that horse crap, like BS were compound words. And tired "assed" doesn't seem to fit the grammatical structure of the sentence.)
ladylike or lady like?
(I say it's ladylike)
Thanks for your guidance.

No, but it's understandable and thus passable.
I've always thought that horse crap, like BS were compound words.
They're not. But, in my grammar lesson of the day thread, I discussed what language is and isn't. Specifically, all languages are in a constant state of flux, so if everyone uses word A and everyone understands word A, who's to say that word A is incorrect as used? So it is with the two examples you gave. According to the standardized rules of the English language, they're not compound words, but everyone uses them and understands them that way, so, again, they're passable.
And tired "assed" doesn't seem to fit the grammatical structure of the sentence.)
It does, actually. The past tense implies that word A has been done to or fit to word B. For example, "my shaved head" works better than "my shave head."
ladylike or lady like?
(I say it's ladylike)
You're right this time. The guiding principle behind compound words is whether 2 + 2 = 5 or not. In other words, the two words together should create a meaning or nuance somewhat separate from the meanings of the two words by themselves. "Lady" is a noun, whereas "like" by itself would imply that the word after "like" is something similar to a lady. But in this construction, no contextual word would follow "-like," so "ladylike" takes on a new meaning to a degree. CONTRAST THIS with, uh, the "horse" and "bull" examples you gave at first. Putting them together does not give any more meaning than keeping them apart, so they're not compound words.
Thanks for your guidance.
Anytime.

If I'm not mistaken, capitalizing the words "Big Girl" is in error. Am I supposed to be a moderator? Only if you're supposed to be sober, dear.

Sober as a Baptist Minister on sunday morning. I plan on rectifying that situation after dinner though. Who knows, maybe you'll be funny when I'm drunk.

Jersey Girl, Coffee, and I had a rather verbal disagreement in the Telestial Forum in the thread attacking Gaz. I think there was some confusion because Jersey Girl suggested that I move the thread from Terrestrial to Telestial, which I did, after assessing the content.
I'm a Moderator, Coffee, but Jersey Girl is not.
