You have said before that you view the entire "Left" as a "hateful ideology."
Yes, that's true. Leftism is a hateful philosophy.
It turns out that, for you, "the Left" is basically this big ideological box into which you can dump all sorts of things you don't like, including AGW. You have also said elsewhere that "the Left" represents, in your mind, an attack on "tradition and values," which means, logically, that attacking it will aid you in your belief in the Church.
There are a number of things I disagree with, some on the Libertarian right, that have nothing to do with ideological Leftism per se. AGW, as is true of a number of other things (such as political correctness and the assault of academic freedom and free speech on campus), are almost wholly phenomena of the Left, and the Left just happens to be associated with a plethora of viewpoints and ideas with which I strongly disagree. This is inherent in leftist philosophy, not in any desire on my part to dump views I don't like into an artificial hopper. The support of convenience abortion on demand exists entirely on the cultural left, with only pockets of support for it outside that philosophical box (with much of this being primarily operational). This is a fact of modern political life, not an artificial construct.
The Left does, and always has, openly reflected an concerted attack by the adversary culture on the best aspects of "traditional values", including rational thought and, in some senses, the values of scientific inquiry in the western tradition. But AGW has nothing to do with my "belief" in the church. I do not believe in the church. I
know the church is everything it claims to be regardless of what happens with AGW. But AGW is an attack on the Gospel because it is a militant alternative religion that seeks to overturn, not only the western values of economic and personal liberty, but the moral, philosophical and political patrimony without which neither the LDS church or any other could exist free of relentless persecution and repression by the true believers in the religion of the moral equivalence of man and nature (and the superiority of a regimented and controlled egalitarian society).
I
think further (but this is really just speculation) that at some point you came to the realization that it is impossible to defend the Church on certain fronts. However, that hasn't stopped critics from criticizing. In response to this, you have made up your mind to rabidly attack what you see as the Church's chief enemy---this amorphous ideological box that you call "the Left." You think that if you slay "the Left," no one will attack your "precious and dear and sacred" beliefs, and you'll feel much better. But, as I said, this is just speculation.
There is nothing amorphous about the Left at its core, despite such at its periphery. No one but God can "slay the Left". Leftism is Korihorism; what the New Testament describes ad "spiritual wickedness in high places" and is amenable to resistance and periodic control, but never, in this mortal life, defeat.
