Hello Folks,

Please indulge me this little experiment? Let's say you lost your car keys. How do you find them? Is it:

1. Because you retraced your steps
2. Because you "see" them laying somewhere
3. Some other way...tell us.

I find them because I tear the house apart looking for them. Then I get pissed at the huge mess I have to clean up.

I've trained myself so there are 3 places in my apartment I unconciously place them. As soon as I enter the house I, without thinking put my wallet and keys in one of those places. My cell phone is a different story though. Always gets lost.

How do you find the cell phone?

So what you're saying is you find them by ransacking!

Okay, a little clarity is needed here. When I say that you "see" them laying somewhere. I'm not saying that you are actually LOOKING at the keys. This came up in a previous thread where I described seeing things in my head.

I'm talking about seeing them as in seeing a mental picture of the keys where they were left.

The closest thing I can describe it to would be a film. You'd mentally be rewinding the tape until you could mentally freeze the tape to the frame where you see the keys laying where you left them. I see the freeze frame of the keys.

Kinda the same thing as retracing your steps - only in your head.

I'd say i do a combination of looking around everywhere, while at the same time going back in my head to 'see' them.

Yep. And in the process I lose all sorts of other important stuff. So I have to tear the house apart again to find those things.

I just want to know who the inconsiderate jerk was that prayed for god to find them back around December 26th 2004. You see, searching for your keys distracted him and he was not able to warn all of the people and kids on the beach.
