I'm a lady. I have global "glowing."
Seriously, its not as freakishly end-days hot and humid here today. It was relatively nice. So much so that I went for a walk around the Gowanus Canal. Its only a few blocks from my place and it fills my need to commune with industrial ruins and stinky, brakish water. Its pronounced Go Ann Us, but I feel I need to say Go Anus as much as possible.
I might take a canoe down it if I have time before I leave for Utah (in 3 weeks bar any further domestic medical troubles).
Some say the water's so reflective because of the high mercury content. Others say its the only body of water in the US that's 70% guns.

It may not be much to look at for some, but for me I love how real it looks. I don't know if that comment makes sense, but I long for real looking things living here in Lost Wages.
*Sigh*
You should PM your email address. I can show you fear in a handful of dust...no, wait, not that...I can show you some other similar beautiful places on earth. Some near by you, may be...

You think its the actual free growing plant life? As opposed to grey dirt and rock?

Hey now, I saw some red dirt the other day...
It is partially the "free growing plant life." Another aspect is the how it looks aged. Like time has been allowed to take its toll without someone coming along and trying to "beautify" it.
Overall though, I don’t really know what it is exactly. There’s just something about it that has a haunting reality that we can only encounter in Down Town Vegas. Only the reality in the picks is substantially less sleazy.

I love landscapes like the Gowanus. I love industrial ruins with or without encroaching plant life. I love strange and "barren" terrain...
drop me a PM, Stuess, and I'll send you some love shots of such things...
I also have a bit that touches on such loves that I've been meaning to tidy up for my blog board. It concerns what was and always will be The Best Day of My Life.
