Tobacco....yuck!

I live in one of the highest tobacco using and tobacco producing states in the Union. I'm currently sitting next to some dude who's "dipping" and spitting it into a Mt Dew can....yuck. Totally nasty in my opinion. But I'm not saying anything....instead I'm bitching and moaning on this board like a good Christian would passively aggressively do.

One good thing about the Mormons....they don't use tobacco. Anyone out there feel the same way?

Do you live in NC? LOL

Seriously...I agree with you!

I think that spitting tobacco is particularly nasty. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, so I'm not fond of the smoking aspect, either, but I can tolerate being around friends who smoke for short periods of time. My Dad smokes, and as long as I'm sitting with him outside, I'm ok.

The whole spitting thing, though, is just gross!

Dude, I totally agree with EVERY WORD you said! Someone around me dipping, then spitting into a can, makes me nauseous everytime.

What's worse is when they spit into an open cup, like a styrofoam cup. Then you can see it. Gag!

The styrofoam cup is pretty bad....but the worse is using a clear plastic bottle......oh my god that's freaking nasty.

Oh shooeee! Yuck.

I can't stand the smell of smoke (although every once in a while when someone lights up it smells good to me - or especially clove) and especially when they spit!

Smoke on clothing is so nasty smelling too.

A couple times a year I indulge in a fine cigar. I prefer a sweet gummed tip chubby stogie. And I do enjoy the smell of my father in law's pipe. But aside from that, most tabacky stuff is pretty nasty. In my high school, the football players would chew during class, dropping their spittin's into a cup on the floor (hands carefully cupped around their mouths, so that nobody could see - not). Nasty.

What I hate even worse is someone's breath after they've been smoking. A truly horrid experience is when someone who's recently smoked leans in to whisper something to you. Those times live on in memory forever!

Boy, I used to have some of those same thoughts.

Now, I smoke. I imagine it's on my clothes, but I wouldn't know it. I'm only allowed to smoke in the kitchen with the window open.

But, friends, there really is almost nothing like a really good coffee and a nice, rolled tobacco cigarette.

I really do enjoy that.

And going out for beers: how can one not smoke through the night while drinking with one's friends? I go out with my students each Wednesday night to a different pub. Of course, they are all poor and never have any money, so I end up supplying the tobacco. They love me! LOL

Chew is a whole 'nuther can of worms. Tried it once in high school. Will never do it again.

Thinking of moving along to a pipe, rather than rolling. Any pipe smokers here?

I'm not a fan of smoking myself. It burns my throat, and gives me a headache. But I LOVE second-hand smoking. And there's just something nice about smoking a cigar out on the porch when it's raining.

But the best part about being a second-hand smoker... In utah, smokers are the nicest people you'll meet. It's like they've all been so beat-down by the churchies, they're extra-nice to make up for it. They're always willing to talk, they'll always share, and they've got some of the most interesting stories.

I also had the good fortune once to try some raspberry snuff. A tiny snort of that, and you've got a wonderful tingling and tightening sensation through your sinuses, and you smell raspberries for the rest of the day. Quite enjoyable.

Chewing, though, I have to agree, is nasty. I'm reminded of the scene in kill bill 2, where Budd spits on the wife. THAT was nasty.

And why chew tobacco, when you could chew mint?
