Across the Universe!

(Actually I was too lazy to dig up my old Summer Movie thread).

But this movie was actually very good.....a simple premise that seems SO obvious (a musical with Beatles music!) that actually was hammered out of the park. I loved the way they used some of the songs.....now I'll think of the songs in a whole different way (some more melacholy than I normally would consider).....all in all a good movie. Snuggle worthy!

I haven't seen this yet. I didn't like Julie Taymor's adaptation of Titus, but the trailer for this film looks interesting. And that Rachel Hurd-Wood is amazingly hot. She made that terrible movie Perfume bearable.

Of the recent movies I've seen in the theatre, I highly recommend The Kingdom and Eastern Promises. Viggo Mortensen's role in Eastern Promises is Oscar worthy.

Anyone else seen this lately.....I'm thinking of going to see it again (quite a stretch for a poor soul like me) I thought it was so good.

Especially part 1, on astrotheology. Very interesting stuff.

I love you, Bond! I absolutely concur on your choices!

;)

To Sci Fi or Fantasy, I would also add all 3 Matrix movies.

I bolded ones from Runtu's list I totally love.

I'm a huge Lonesome Dove fan....and hate that Call is in every damn book while they went and killed off Gus....God I hate Call. And I totally hated that Pea Eye married Lorena....talk about suspending reality so that they could keep her in the story....jeez. And I'm also totally pissed off that they killed off every awesome character (Deets, Newt, Jake, Gus) or cut the characters out of the story (Dish, Jasper, Lippy) and left all the boring characters who do nothing but crybaby across the prairie (Pea Eye, Call, Lorena) in the whole time. McMurtry really dropped the ball with Streets of Laredo.
