Jena 6

Has anyone been following this story? I thought it would just be another chance for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to piss and moan...but dang it won't go away. Yeah I think that attempted murder charge was too much...but is this just an isolated case of weird stuff going down or is it a snapshot showing that America (especially southern America) is racist?

Here's an outline of the events....suffice to say that it the racial tension in this town came to a head when 6 (the Jena 6) black kids were charged with second degree attempted murder for attacking a white kid at school. 5 were charged with attempted murder, including one being charged as an adult (which would make it much worse punishment wise).

Basically the argument is that the guys are being overpunished because they're black and they were generally mistreated by a white system.

I clicked on this solely based on the title, Jena 6. I thought this thread was concerning the sixth entry in a series of straight-to-video movies entitled Jena. I apologize for my assumption. After reading the Wiki article, I realize that this is no place for levity.
