The problem with Nephi is that he cannot appeal to critics when he clings on to the mystifying notion that despite being wrong about almost everything, the LDS church is nevertheless still "true" in some meaningful way, and he cannot appeal to TBMs so long as he clings to the (to them) mystifying notion that it's wrong about so many things and not necessarily the only one and uniquely true church. That, and the fact that he admits he'll drink a beer or have his wife smoke a joint when she's sick, simply goes totally against the grain of TBM thought. This is why I say he's not long for the church; TBMs will never feel comfortable with him, and it's the strength of one's acceptance in the society which in large part creates so much of the incentive to stay a believer.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Some gems from Nephi (in a thread that is now deleted):

Directed at Will Schryver:

I am not being a drama queen. I have had (in the past) where I deserted a board and someone hacked my account and started to use it. I do not wish for it to happen again. Go f*Celestial Kingdom yourself a$$ hole for thinking you know better than me on this one. Jesus f*cking Christ, you guys are so dense.

At The Nehor:

Both. ****, ****... is it so hard to think for yourself on this board?

At Kate:

Kate, please go screw the savior and leave your comments out of this as well, or would you like for me to start blowing up your a$$ for comfort?

To Selek:

I could care less what you think, f*cktard.

And…

Yeah? Get back to the back alleys and go f*Celestial Kingdom an AIDS infested whore so we get less of your charitable comments on the board, k?

To Kate;

Nice Kate. Enjoy being a sheep and never really knowing what the f*Celestial Kingdom others are saying around you. I have found you can find happiness in Slavery.

I hope he gets the professional help he needs as he has obviously had a mental break. No person with any sempblence of sane humanity would do this.

Wow, I definitely missed that. I wonder what set him off like that.

I checked out his MA&D thread about "all roads lead to heaven," and it made me wonder: When he was hearing the missionary discussions, what part of "their professors are all corrupt, and their creeds are an abomination before me" didn't he understand?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Please, for the love of God, NOOOOOOOooooooo! One thing that drives me up a wall reading online posts is people who believe that using ellipsis a lot somehow softens their post and makes it more cuddly and nice. It doesn't, and it just looks like crap. And it gives the impression of one's not being able to actually complete a sentence. Arg, I hate it!

I rarely type complete sentences. Except the one I just made. Ignore that one though.

I use ellipsis when I write on boards for dramatic effect I suppose... or something.... not sure what....

I don't know. He started some threads asking to have his account banned (I don't know why he didn't ask via PM, as I understand the mods have honored other's requests via PM to delete accounts). Then, it just spiraled. Last, he was posting in every thread:

Come to http://www.freeporn.com/ to see Mormon polygamous families having group sex!#@!#@!#@

My mouse-clicking hand is tired from deleting all of them.

I really do hope he gets some help, as this isn't rational behavior. Somethings wrong, and I hope it doesn't go too far.

I'm actually wondering if it's really him, or if someone has hacked into his account. This really just doesn't seem like him. We've had our moments, but he's always handled disagreement with his views very graciously. Even when others have been self-righteous (such as me) in their opinion of his views, he has been level-headed and mature.

I'm not sure what to make of this.

I'm not certain what to make of this behavior either. I suppose if he wants to go he's going down in a fiery, flaming, sort of Phoenix way? Or just a pile of ashes? Could be that too.

I'm sure he'll be over here eventually (if it's him) to look for some pats on the back, or to clarify, or... or... something.

I hope this isn't another Evensen.

*shrugs*

Is today April 1st and no one told me?
