The Cat Thread (Brag on your cat here!)

Post by _KimberlyAnn »

I've noticed there are a lot of cat lovers on this board, so I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could share pictures and stories about our favorite kitty cats.

I have two cats, Pork and Beans. They are brother and sister. They were born under my friend Pam's deck and it was very rainy the week they were born, so Pam felt we should brave their wild, scratching momma cat and get the kittens out from under the deck. She was right, of course. Her deck is on an incline, and water runs under there. We were afraid the kittens would drown.

We attempted once, and momma cat scared us away. She was vicious! But the next morning, Pam called me in tears. It had rained all night and one little drowned kitten washed out from under the deck. It was still pouring rain, but I went to her house to try to save the other kittens. We were completely covered in mud, but managed to get the other four kittens to dry ground.

So, they grew for a few weeks, and my girls picked a kitten they wanted for their own. But, I wanted a different kitten. The one with the stick of a tail. There was a boy kitten with no fur on the end of his tail for some reason. I wanted him. So, we took both kittens and named them Pork and Beans. The boy is Pork. I thought I'd have the vet amputate the end of his tail, but the girls begged me not to, so I waited, and sure enough, fur started growing on the end of that stick tail. Now, the fur on the end of his tail is bushier than the rest, and he's obviously quite pleased with it. He twitches it with such satisfaction.

They are both inside kitties, but do go outside for little field trips. Girl cat, Beans, is quite the huntress, bringing home little moles and field mice. Boy cat hasn't been so successful, but just the other day he caught a mouse and brought it's body to the front door. We left it there for a day so he could look at it. He kept running out to check on it.

Here are pictures of Pork and Beans. (By the way, Beans is whatever kind of bean suits her at the moment. She's a sweet jelly Bean, or a jumping Bean, or a Boston Baked Bean...)

Pork is on the left; Beans on the right:

And here is Queen Bean on her throne (she actually sits there all the time):

Now, share pics and stories about your kitty cats!

Here's Blixa, the bitey-est bad ass cat East of the Mississippi! (by the way one of his many, many nicknames is "beans") He's an indoor cat; I got him from the vet down the street about two years ago. He'd been brought in with some brothers and sisters: they'd been found in an abandoned building. You can't see it in these pictures but his coat is not solid black, he has a lot of long, soft grey hair on his belly and his back legs look like cossack pants or pantaloons (cataloons). You can maybe see a bit of it in the last pic, also maybe how his toes are outlined in tufts if gray fur. He's quite the fluffster. He likes to play fetch with a mouse toy that he keeps in his food dish.

Awww...cute cats, ladies!

Unfortunately, we'll never own a cat. My husband is allergic to them. :(

That's our roommate's room (sisterwife) and I think she actually took all those pictures! She sent me the cupboard cat one while I was in Utah missing Mr. B, a.k.a. black beans, a.k.a. le Biz, a.k.a. das Baser, a.k.a. Beasley...etc. Heh, I just realized we even call him "beastie" on occasion!

AWWW! Love the cats!

Mine is in my avatar. He was a few months old in the photo. Now he is about 6 months old. He is so beautiful!

Unfortunately, my husband and I do not agree on how to have cats as pets, and we really should not own a cat, to be honest. Hubby wants it to be outside all the time, and as a result, it is at risk.

We are loving this one like crazy, though, for sure!

My reputation as a crazy cat lady precedes me, KA knew to PM me about this thread! I don't know why I've always been a cat freak, I usually have three. Once I had four, but that was a bit too much. I used to let them outdoors until I lost one to FIP (I think that's what it's called) and now they're all indoors.

Here's my latest, Maya. My boyfriend wanted me to name her Pris, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

But here's what I've wanted to post to cheezburger, but they never post what I send them so I don't bother.

Oh, wait a minute. I don't know how to post a pix straight from my computer in the first place. Do you have to post it on a website first? That's the only way I know how to do it.

(ps, beastie is a great name for a cat!!)
