I have two cats, Pork and Beans. They are brother and sister. They were born under my friend Pam's deck and it was very rainy the week they were born, so Pam felt we should brave their wild, scratching momma cat and get the kittens out from under the deck. She was right, of course. Her deck is on an incline, and water runs under there. We were afraid the kittens would drown.
We attempted once, and momma cat scared us away. She was vicious! But the next morning, Pam called me in tears. It had rained all night and one little drowned kitten washed out from under the deck. It was still pouring rain, but I went to her house to try to save the other kittens. We were completely covered in mud, but managed to get the other four kittens to dry ground.
So, they grew for a few weeks, and my girls picked a kitten they wanted for their own. But, I wanted a different kitten. The one with the stick of a tail. There was a boy kitten with no fur on the end of his tail for some reason. I wanted him. So, we took both kittens and named them Pork and Beans. The boy is Pork. I thought I'd have the vet amputate the end of his tail, but the girls begged me not to, so I waited, and sure enough, fur started growing on the end of that stick tail. Now, the fur on the end of his tail is bushier than the rest, and he's obviously quite pleased with it. He twitches it with such satisfaction.
They are both inside kitties, but do go outside for little field trips. Girl cat, Beans, is quite the huntress, bringing home little moles and field mice. Boy cat hasn't been so successful, but just the other day he caught a mouse and brought it's body to the front door. We left it there for a day so he could look at it. He kept running out to check on it.
Here are pictures of Pork and Beans. (By the way, Beans is whatever kind of bean suits her at the moment. She's a sweet jelly Bean, or a jumping Bean, or a Boston Baked Bean...)

And here is Queen Bean on her throne (she actually sits there all the time):
