No, really. It was someone in my stake presidency. Aparently he was ordained a High Priest by a guy who was ordained a High Priest by Paul Harold Dunn (who was ordained a High Priest by David O McKay).
Now the next time the bishop asks me about my calling, I'll be sure to tell him about the time I almost played major league baseball for the Cardinals and how my best friend died in WWII, but it was all worth it so that I could be a financial clerk.

I don't understand your OP. At all!
What does "set aside" refer to?

It is a method of shelving devised by Thomas Dewey author of the Dewey Decimal System. It involves working from left to right if I remember correctly. Members are instructed from an early age to "choose the right" so they can be set aside properly according to this method.

Asbestos, you will have many tales to tell your Grandchildren.

You mean "set apart." That's Mormonspeak for being ordained to the priesthood.

Ah! Yes, I meant "set apart". Either way, "set apart", "set aside" I knew not what it meant.
I still have no idea what asbestosman meant with his OP even with the new understanding of "set apart".

"That's Mormonspeak for being ordained to the priesthood."
So I have been ordained to the priesthood???
It is when you accept a calling, you are sustained by the ward or stake members depending upon your calling and later set apart. This is where you are given a blessing from someone with the melkezedik(sp?) priesthood, usually the bishopric. It is like to be set apart from the rest of the members.
It is mostly done to those gaining the priesthood, but I have been set apart before.

If it helps, I didn't either and I am LDS.
I think he was relating that he was set apart by someone who traced back to David O Mckay just to be a clerk.
Asb:- You got set apart to be clerk? That is funny.
