Waiting For Enlightenment

Sunday afternoon, I decided to go to the park to do a bit of writing. While there, there was a gentleman sitting in the lotus position under a tree. I decided to approach him as he took a moment to stretch. He was a Buddhist and was (in his own words) “waiting for enlightenment.” I asked if I might join him, to which he readily accepted my request.
I sat under that tree (not in the same position as him, as I have bad knees) for about 45 minutes. Finally, my enlightenment came.
Mrs. Fields makes a fantastic ice-cream cookie sandwich.
I am grateful to that man for providing me the opportunity to realize that oft times in life, the simplicity of an ice-cream sandwich on a Sunday afternoon is of much greater import than toiling away in ancient Rabbinical texts.
Now I have passed my enlightenment to you. May you eat an ice-cream cookie sandwich and feel the heavenly joys associated with it.
