My Weekend

Post by _Moniker »

So, it was fantastic! The weather was spectacular and Spring is in full bloom all about me -- which always elevates my spirits.

The children and I played in our garden and we planted, planted, planted -- went to the nursery and planted some more all Saturday morning. We packed a picnic lunch and went to the Natchez Trace and hiked down to a waterfall I found years ago. The kids and I played in the cascading water for most of the day and enjoyed the foliage. We took a book on wildflowers and attempted to name as many as we could, as well. We were the only ones there for about 4 hours. A young couple that had just married wandered down at some point and we shared our food with them and had pleasant conversation with them.

Sunday I decided to be risky with my kids and took them to an old ghost town that is fenced off. Primm Springs. When I was a child my grandparents had a house there (it was a sort of resort at a natural spring) and we wandered through their old home and a few others as well as exploring the town. We went to the springs and played about there, as well. The history there is amazing and I told them that I would get together some articles and pictures from when the town was alive and "bubbling" in the early 1900's. So, yesterday I went to the archives with my girls and we researched a bit about the rise and decline of Primm Springs.

My rose bushes are blooming and so are my Iris! What a wonderful weekend. Hope you all had a good one, as well! :)

So, I assume it's your nursery? (In my mind, "nursery" evokes images of a commercial enterprise where you buy someone else's plants, not where you plant your own.)

Wait a second. You're in Tennessee now, right? I thought that was a brand-new state into which you and your former husband moved shortly before your divorce. I'd always thought you'd been raised in a different state, since you talked all about how out-of-place you felt in your new locale.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

No, it's not my nursery. It's a local one where we buy our plants, seeds, supplies, etc...

Huh?

I was raised in lots of different places.

I feel out of place here 'cause it's a teeny tiny town -- looks like it's just out of a Normal Rockwell Picture. White picket fences are ACTUALLY in all my neighbors yard. There are lots of Churches, no restaurants, no shopping, everyone is a cousin.....etc.... Yet, I actually do love it. I love the simplicity and the charm.

I wasn't raised in TN -- I graduated HighSchool from an area about Memphis, Shades. My mother is from here. I was all over the place as a kid.

Enough information?

<edited out too much personal information>

Shades, why do you follow me about asking me questions such as this?

Hmm... to put this into perspective for you.

Let's say someone lives in a state -- California, for instance. Let's say they live in San Diego. Then they move to a teeny tiny town up in the North of California -- SAME state -- different atmosphere.

Does that make sense?

To anyone??? :)

The people here wear overalls and camouflage most days of their lives. They all have grown up here and know each other. MOST of them are related to each other!!! I don't mind them -- I think they're fairly interesting and CHOOSE to live here.

It makes perfect sense. I grew up in a decent-sized city in NorCal (a few hundred thousand people) and then my parents moved us to a very small ranching town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas when I was in high school. I think the population of the town at the time was about 3500 people. Total culture shock. Everyone was into 4-H and ranching and stuff. I didn't fit in very well.

Heck, when I was 14 we moved from a very large city just 20 miles south to a rural bedroom community, and it was a completely different atmosphere. The school year started after harvest season was over (different day every year, depending on the crops) and most roads had no sidewalks. Major culture shock.

I'm completely different. I lived in the small town for the first 20 years of my life and now live in a big city. I was used to wide open spaces. Getting used to the large numbers of people now is a different sort of growing pain.

Aha! I get it. What you meant to say was, ". . . . . . went to the nursery, bought some seeds and plants, took them home, and planted some more all Saturday morning." You didn't go to the nursery and plant anything there. Got it.

Shades, why do you follow me about asking me questions such as this?

I don't follow you about. I simply try to gain clarity about the things which confuse me.

Right, if I typed, "The children and I played all morning in our kitchen and we baked, baked, baked-- went to the grocery and baked some more all Saturday morning." you shouldn't assume we were baking at the grocery....

Well, it seems I must confuse you often.
