I was wondering if you've seen or heard about the documentary film Freedom's Fury? It's about the famous Olympic water polo match between Hungary and the Soviet Union in 1956. Do you know much about this? The reason I bring this up is that my USS swim coach when I was a kid (9-14 years old) was Ervin Zador. He defected to the U.S. after the Olympics and took up coaching. I haven't seen the documentary yet but look forward to its release on DVD.

I have heard about it but didn't see it.
I've seen our own version, a hungarian doc-like film, "Freedom, Love" by Goda Kriszta (by the way we, hungarians use FAMILY NAME FIRST!)
Goda Kriszta is arranging the "boys":

I'll try to collect the H version.

Yep, that's my old coach. The guy with the bloody face. He had a unique coaching style. He gave all of us nicknames and paced up and down the side of the pool yelling hup, two, three, kick kick kick kick kick. He would implement some water polo workouts into our practices. Brutal stuff. Thanks for posting the pics.

Ludwig,

I recently watched a documentary about early christian societys. They spent a long portion of the film on the homes and churches built in Cappadocia, carved in mountains made of ash. They were incredible !

Have you ever visited this part of your country? If so, what was your impression?

Cappadocia is in Turkey, on the Asian side. Image

It is true, HUNGARY was for 150 years part of the Turkish Empire, but we have no more that connection.

We live in Europe. Image
