What is your favorite Zombie movie, and why? I will allow the inclusion of 28 Days Later in this poll, even though the flesh-eaters in that movie aren't technically zombies. I had to leave a few movies off the poll because it wouldn't allow me to have that many options. I'll put an "other" category. If you choose "other", be sure to say which movie it represents.

I chose Evil Dead 2. I'm a huge fan. I love Bruce Campbell. This film is over-the-top. Sam Raimi's direction is perfect. It's gory and funny and cheesy and could be considered scary if you're a wuss or a novice to the genre. I like all the Romero films, except for his latest, Diary of the Dead. Shaun of the Dead is pure genius. It was almost my top pick.

I was just kidding about this poll. I damned hate zombies. They eat your flesh. You can only kill them with a bullet to the brain or by burning them at extreme temperatures. It doesn't matter how many times you kick a zombie in the nuts, he'll keep after you. He'll disembowel you and eat your innards. Retarded zombies.

Well, if you kick a zombie in the nuts and he keeps after you, then I say you're wearing the wrong shoes.

You gotta have perfect nut-kicking shoes. Like mine. One kick to the nuts with my polka-dotted shoes would stop any stupid zombie in his tracks. I'm quite certain of it.

My daughter and I got a kick out of watching the original 1957 Night of the Living Dead some time ago. She informed me that, "Zombies aren't real Daddy".

Dude... You list Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of Dead, and Land of the Dead, but you forget Day of the Dead (and the recent remake of it)? Obviously not a Romero fan...

Dawn of the Dead, original 1978 release version hands down. It's a classic on so many levels and Tom Savini is at the top of his game for effects. I don't really care much for the remake (yeah, I own it anyway. I'm a horror movie geek). The new fascination with undead that can out perform Olympic athletes is so stupid on so many levels.

Night of the Living Dead was cool and is still a classic, but it's kinda slow paced and the effects were tame (yeah, they were cutting edge gore for the time). The area this movie really shines is as social commentary about the Civil Rights Movement.

Land of the Dead was pretty boring to me and unlike Night of the Living Dead, where the social commentary was subtle, this movie was so over-the-top it felt like someone was slapping me in the face. We get it, greed is bad, rich people are evil... Get back to making zombies explode in interesting ways already.

Diary of the Dead was lame. If you gotta see it just find a decent streaming movie site and save the rental fee.

Shaun of the Dead is brilliant comedy. But, it's a comedy and not a serious horror movie, so it doesn't count.

28 Days Later... I hate this movie and its sequel so very much. Ok, the rage "zombies" (they're not zombies, they're still alive), no longer eat, don't drink anything, and never sleep yet are somehow able to run and fight at full speed for days or even weeks after they're infected? How does that work?

Evil Dead 2, while one of the my favorite movies ever and chock full of awesome one-liners isn't a Zombie movie. But yeah, Bruce "The Chin" Campbell rocks... First time I saw this movie I was like "Holy frak, dude... He's got a friggin' chainsaw for a friggin' hand... Sweet!"

Return of the Living Dead should be filed under "How Not To Make A Good Zombie Movie". Movie climaxed with Lianna Quigly doing a strip tease on a grave and went down hill from there. Only movie with Zombies where the dead people have better dialog then the living ("BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS!"). I have to smoke a lot of reefer before I can watch this movie without wanting to chuck beer cans at the TV. Shame on you, Dan O'Bannon... Shame.

My favorite is probably Shaun of the Dead. Loved the mundane nature of the characters.

I didn't forget Day of the Dead. I didn't have enough room to put it on the poll. I love Day of the Dead, but most people prefer Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead, so I thought they'd suffice. In retrospect, I should have left off Land of the Dead or Diary of the Dead or 28 Days Later, but I didn't. Oh well. I don't know how you concluded that I'm obviously not a Romero fan when I listed all his zombie movies except that one. The remake of Day of the Dead is unwatchable. I made it about 20 minutes in. Mena Suvari in the military...come on.

It's a zombie movie, so it counts. It's hilarious and it delivers the gore.

I agree that Romero's Dawn of the Dead is the pinnacle of zombie movie greatness. I just felt like voting for Evil Dead 2 today.

I'm glad I got to make my 1000th post defending zombie movies.

Ok, I'll take back ya not being a fan... But still, how could you break the Zombie Trilogy? Land of the Dead sucks. And don't forget Day of the Dead having one of the most goretastic zombie kills ever (the LT getting pulled apart).

No way, dude. It was a comedy, not a horror flick. The Zombies were pretty much just props in what's basically your typical "Boy loves girl, girl leaves boy, boy does something to win her back" romantic comedy.

All the Evil Dead were demons, not zombies. Therefore not a Zombie flick.
