Tune in next week and watch her get sassy with Pakistan!

McCain has so little respect for the presidency of the United States that he is willing to put the girl next door (soon, too, to be a grandma) into office beside him.

Considering McCain first met this woman in February, of this year, can you really argue with this?

Was he even aware of what kind of politician she was – or better yet – was he even aware of her existence?

McCain not only has thrown all sensible concerns about good governance aside merely to pander to a sliver of female and masses of conservative Christian voters, he has turned this period of American history into an episode of high-stakes reality television: Don’t look now, but our cousin Sarah just became leader of the free world!
Tune in next week and watch her get sassy with Pakistan.

LOL.

My concern is not that Mrs. Palin is a woman. My concern is that she is a totally unqualified and poorly educated woman who was added to the Republican ticket as a token woman (and Creationist wacko).

Briefly: My criticism of Palin should not be construed as uncritical acceptance of Obama. Needless to say, I find Obama’s religious pandering repulsive. The suspicion that he is pandering, out of obvious necessity, and not quite as religious as he makes out, is somewhat comforting, however. But even if Obama were precisely as religious as he appears, he is not a Creationist, Rapture-Ready blockhead. Palin, by all appearances, seems to be one. This is a difference worth noting.

Everyone seems to want to downplay her position on ID being taught in school. What we don’t seem to want to remember is that she actually buys that nonsense herself.

Why is the media ignoring Palin’s lie last night about the bridge to nowhere?

Whatever you may think of his politics, Obama is very intelligent and reasonably well educated. Palin thinks the universe is 6000 years old.

That’s enough for me.

I will be guardedly optimistic to have a very smart (and somewhat qualified) Barack Obama in the White House. And I would be frankly terrified to have a religious bumpkin like Sarah Palin in the White House.

Me too.

Hi GoodK,

You appear to be arguing that a Presidential candidate needs to know a VP candidate well. Why is this the case? Roosevelt knew Henry Wallace well when he shoved him down the Democratic delegates’ throats in 1940. Fortunately, the party bosses prevented this from happening again in 1944. Given Wallace’s naïve attitude towards the Soviet Union, he would have been a disaster as a president.

McCain has campaigned as a reformer. While I disagree with him about campaign finance reform, which in my opinion is a scam and has made things worse, it makes perfect sense for him to pick Palin who has fought corruption in her own party in Alaska. Obama, by contrast, has done nothing about the rampant corruption in Illinois (see Claypool versus Stroger for just one example). The contrast is striking.

Well Palin is the TOKEN woman..and I guarantee her and her family have no idea about what they are about to go through..anyone remember Geraldine Ferraro..it was awful the press dug up some ugly stuff about her and her husband none of it proved to be true

But with Palin the press will bring out every detail of everyone in her life children included..

Now with Hillary so much sht has been flung at her and nothing has stuck she is completely vetted...just because Obama did not choose her to be VP means nothing...

I want her in the senate cause she is the one that wanted national health care way back when and the congress voted against it time and tme again..well the congress can't vote or won't against anymore..cuase now it looks like it is the Bushes idea

The women of this world are way too smart to fall for Palin...she is a freaking dumb ass..

Why did she not provide her daughter guidance and provide her with birth control so she did not become pregnant...do not try and shove down my throat that she supports her daughter descision not to have an abortion..hell this is such good ratings for Palin..

Palin has voted right along with McCain against women's reproductive rights....

She will be seen for the twit she truly is...

I feel sorry for her family..and the crap that is about to get slung at her from the right wing media...

She is about as anti-feminist as they come and if us women of the world are stupid enough to vote for the McCain Palin ticket....Well we won't be

The crap is coming from the left wing media. She's being defended by conservatives.

I hope you are not calling women stupid..cause we are not..some may be but then again when they go to cast their vote they will not be voting for Palin..hopefully the will be voting for what is best for the People.....Hillary may not be on the ticket but that doesn't mean she hasn't won...

Have some faith man..cause I do. I believe in the women of the world.

I think it is obvious that this was a ploy. He wanted to be a Maverick. He wanted to throw in a token women to look hip. He wanted to throw in a token Creationist to look more conservative. His choice of Sarah Palin really does show that this is a game to him and he doesn't care about the position.

Like how she said she fought against the Bridge to Nowhere - which just turned out to be a lie - and the money sort of just dissapeared?

Or how she tried to have her brother in-law removed as a statetrooper during divorce proceedings with her sister? And then she fired Walter Monegan, the public safety commissioner, for not removing him?

That sort of corruption?

Obama, by contrast, has done nothing about the rampant corruption in Illinois (see Claypool versus Stroger for just one example). The contrast is striking.

I'm not in love with Obama at all. I wish there was another choice, to be honest. At least he is educated and intelligent.

ROFL!!!

Yea, his comments are sooooo intelligent. Especially on inflating tires to save all the money on gas that we would save from drilling!!! The same guy who said the Georgia problem should be solved by the UN Securit Council, apparently oblivious to the fact that Russia has a veto vote! This is the guy with a degree in International Relations?

The only smart thing he has done really is to avoid the creationist questions so he can confuse atheists into thinking he's on their side.

Don't you know this guy is a Christian? Don't you know that makes him stupid by the atheistic standards of this forum?

Anyone who thinks Palin is "poorly educated" is an idiot, so it should be no surprise you're relaying Sam Harris crap. You guys run to the atheist blogs to tell you how to think on juyst about everything now, even politics. Palin's father was a science teacher so I think it unlikely she believes the world is 6,000 years old. It isn't enough to say she believes creationism should be discussed if it is brought up in class, therefore she must agree with all the extreme aspects of creationism. You think Obama doesn't believe the Genesis account, just because he says he accepts evolution? Where has Palin rejected evolutionary science? She explicitly said it should be taught in schools and explicitly said creationism shouldn't be added to that curriculum.

As far as comparing educational backgrounds go with Obama, she wasn't career minded aspiring to be a politician when finishing High School. Obviously she didn't need a graduate degree, even if Obama did. But she did obtain a Bachelors of Science at a state University. In what way does that make her "poorly educated"? You guys are hilariously desperate to throw mud any way you can.

I think it is obvious that this was a ploy.

To the simple-minded perhaps, but those who are able to think more dimensionally, and actually understand John McCain, understand it has more to do with her expertise in Alaska's oil market than anything else. The greatest challenge we face today is our energy crisis.
He wanted to be a Maverick.

He already is a Maverick. He has to do nothing else to earn that identity because. He picked Palin because she isn't a typical Washington politician, like himself, and unlike Obama and Biden. Two politicians who have been absorbed in the system of corruption and self interests.
He wanted to throw in a token Creationist to look more conservative.

Then he did a poor job, since she doesn't want creationism in the published curriculum at schools. Everyone knew and expected him to pick Romney because he was teh most conservative of the lot. But he didn't. Unlike Obama, he is smart enough to not pick someone as his VP, who just a few months prior, said he wasn't ready to be Preisdent. Biden said this about Obama during the debates!!

If only you atheists would put down your hatred of religion for two seconds and actually learn the facts through unbiased sources and draw your conclusions by deducing it all rationally, you wouldn't come across as hateful. But as it is, you wear it on your sleeves. Everything for you has to be about religion. I bet you probably vote for your favorite all start baseball players according to their religious affiliation, or lack thereof. lol! And atheists like to claim they are the ones persecuted through exclusion! All I can say is that from reading these forums for a month or so, you guys don't invoke much sympathy. This is how bigoted your are as a minority. Just imagine how much more you would be if you were a majority!
His choice of Sarah Palin really does show that this is a game to him and he doesn't care about the position.

Yea, that makes a whole lot of sense doesn't it? Think about what you're saying. Look at what this man has endured his entire life. He doesn't care about what people expect of him, he is only interested in sticking to his guns and doing what he believes is right. Palin wasn't the poilitically correct choice, but she has made McCain look liek a genius. The same is true for the surge. Politically incorrect, but now he looks like a genius for pushing for it.
Like how she said she fought against the Bridge to Nowhere - which just turned out to be a lie - and the money sort of just dissapeared?

There is more to this than what we know. This is too fresh to immediately jump to conclusions. But the fact is, this woman puts her constituents first, not herself. Did Bill Clintion sell the government jet and give the money back to the taxpayers?
Or how she tried to have her brother in-law removed as a statetrooper during divorce proceedings with her sister?

There is no hard evidence that this is true, but you're not interested in the truth. The truth is, this man tasered her 10 year old nephew (his step-son), was abusing her sister (his fourth wife), was caught drinking alcohol in his patrol car, illegally shot a moose in open public, and then made death threats against her father because he tried to get her a divorce attorney. The police dept put the case against him on the backburner and eventually dropped it after suspending him for only 10 days - actually, it was only 5 days after his union got involved. Leave it up to an atheist to turn this bastard into a victim.

As I said before, I hope the media blows this up because it will make people love her even more. If I were her, I would have done everything in my power to have someone who made death threats against my father, removed from the police force. But there is no evidence she did even this much.
And then she fired Walter Monegan, the public safety commissioner, for not removing him?

Again, this is not true. She is the one who appointed him, and she had every right to remove him. Even Monegan had to admit she never told him this was why she was firing him. She fired him for various other reasons, but the fact that he refused to fire officer Wooten and tried to protect this asshole, tells me the other charges against Monegan won't be difficult to believe.
I'm not in love with Obama at all.

No, you're just in love with the idea of being able to slam someone who is openly religious, even if it means you have to go into CB mode and convince yourself Obama is a friend to atheists.
