Thumbs up for the Ignore Feature!

I was originally skeptical of the effectiveness of the ignore feature, since you can still view the comments of those you're ignoring in the posts of others however, I have to report back that after using the ingnore feature on a small handful of posters, it's wonderful.

As you're scrolling through a thread there is a statement in very small type that acknowledges the persons post however, it's nearly unnoticeable and the times that a "foes" comments actually appear in the posts of others is rare, possibly because their comments are ignored by the majority.

Anyway, if you are really bugged by the repeated postings of certain posters, try the ignore feature. It makes those postings nearly invisible to you.

Ah! Blessed peace!!!

I loathe the ignore feature.

Why do you loathe it, GoodK? I originally opposed it to begin with but I have to say, after using it, it's a blessed relief to be able to tune out worthless remarks by people like SUAS.

I'm really liking it.

Although it is a bit longer title, I like to refer to it as the Head in the Sand feature.

mok,

I see it as more of a clutter reducer. I wonder if I can use it to zap my own posts?

Can I put myself on ignore?

:-D

I don't understand how it helps people at all, but if they like it, who really cares?

It is becoming part of people's sig-lines, who they have on ignore. Crazy stuff.

Yeah, it does help and to begin with, I objected to it.

When you have someone on ignore, there is a message in teeny tiny little font that marks their post. While reading as you normally do, you don't even notice it at all.

If you do notice and do want to read the post, there's a place on the message that you can click and it shows the post as usual.

That might be why you see the words of the ignored in a sig line. Perhaps those using the ignore, occassionally click into a post of someone on their list.

Yeah, but why do you want to ignore someone in such a formal way? Are there that many of us you don't enjoy chatting with? And why not just breeze over it rather than put it on ignore.

It seems too much to me like watching a movie where the sound keeps breaking up, and then it is fine and then it breaks up, and so on....

Really, the only posts I can't stand are the 'killing gays' posts. I know who to avoid on that score. Otherwise, it just ain't such a big deal, you know!
