Who are you folks may I have a little back ground so I know what organization I am talking too?

I know you state seeking truth but what are you using for the Benchmark?

This was the same approach I used after I had a witness from the Holy Ghost that The Book of Mormon was true.

Beyond that I was completely ignorant of the Church and its back ground except for the name and a few items in the news after that I was clueless

When I receive a copy of The Book of Mormon I was on an 18 year quest looking for truth I had a library full of books from all kinds religions never did have the Book of Mormon and was going to throw it out after a year of hanging around my apartment getting in the way falling on the floor and I did not know where to place it on my book shelf.

I really was through with mainstream religion and anything like it never want anything like it again least of all Mormons.
I had no problem with God or Jesus just organized religions

This book did not seem to fit in before I was ready to toss the book into the wastepaper basket I felt I should read a mark passage in the back of the book

Moroni 10

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

So for some reason I did kneel down over the wastepaper basket and prayed to the Father and asked if the Book was true in the Name of Jesus Christ

I did not expect what happen next it was a feeling of over whelming Joy and I just had to know more about this Church.

The person who gave me the book I was not speaking too for almost a year.

So my now my next step I had learn enough from the Bible to know that was my Benchmark and the spirit of the Lord!

So who are you or this group?

Quick answer: This group is comprised of Mormons, non-mormons and former Mormons, with the latter group being in the majority.

by the way, this is not off-topic. Should be in the Terrestrial forum. Welcome Resty.

This group is everyone and everyone who wishes to talk about Mormonism. Nothing more, nothing less.

I know you state seeking truth but what are you using for the Benchmark?

That which exists regardless of whether one believes in it or not.

And it happens to be dominated in numbers by those who have something against Church and preach against it.
