Democrats are poised to avoid the danger of President Barack Obama accepting his party’s nomination before a partially-empty stadium by shifting his speech to an indoor arena and citing ‘severe weather’.

The Obama campaign have been working desperately to ensure that the 74,000-seater Bank of America stadium in Charlotte would be filled.

Buses for students from across North Carolina and even members of black churches in neighboring South Carolina have been arranged.

Footage of rows of empty seats at the stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, as Obama speaks on Thursday night would be politically disastrous – an enduring image of the contrast between his campaign of ‘hope’ and ‘change’ in 2008 and his dour, negative struggle for re-election in 2012.

Now, it looks like the weather has come to the President's rescue.

As officials prepare to open the Democratic convention this afternoon, there are strong indications that the speech will be moved to Time Warner Cable Arena, which has a capacity of just over 20,000.

Democratic convention sources have indicated that the ‘contingency plan’ is at an advanced stage and that a move to the stadium appears certain.

‘It looks like a done deal to me,’ said one convention worker. ‘The decision’s apparently been taken and it’s just a matter of spinning it as being forced on us by the weather.’

Convention delegates, party volunteers and Democratic officials gathered in Charlotte would make up about one-third of a crowd in the Bank of America stadium, which officials have said would be 65,000 people.

In 2008, when Obama fever was at its height, the then US Senator had no trouble filling an 84,000-seater outside stadium in Denver, Colorado. But voter enthusiasm has waned this time around.

My my how things change when people are forced to relearn by experience the lessons of history. The racist Democrats will always rely on the good 'ol bus though. Some cotton spread around for symbolism at the destination would certainly illustrate this metaphor they've created.

It's not a good sign for Romney that after the GOP convention he's still behind. Most candidates get a "bump" from their convention but Romney got nothing. Unless Obama gets no bump either it's looking likely that he'll be re-elected.

North Carolina now has an unemployment rate as high as 9.6%. Not much hope and change in North Carolina.
President Barack Obama might win re-election, but Obama is not going to win North Carolina this time around.
Is Obama or Biden going to mention the stimulus during their convention speeches???

Yes, but they'll lie and claim they worked to prevent an even worse crisis when in fact the money and it's associated wealth got flushed down the toilet.

by the way, it's now official. They're moving to a much smaller venue ostensibly over a 20% chance of rain. Everyone knows it's because of low turnout but another problem is that Obama was proclaimed God or a favorite of God; that he could stop the rain. By using this excuse, the Democrats commit blasphemy by admitting Obama is not Divine nor does he have Divine favor because he can no longer guarentee a rainless day.

.

Even the heavily Left-wing Politico and Gallup admit Romney got a modest bump, especially among women and Latino voters. Admittedly around 5% isn't much, but it'll be more than Obama gets. If you carefully study the polls you'll see that Romney's overtaking of Obama from about 10 points behind earlier this year to matching him nationally and passing him in most swing states is driven mainly by Obama's loss of women voters.

This is just about the silliest criticism of the president they have come up with yet -- the idea that he doesn't draw crowds as large as he used to. Even though his crowds have still dwarfed Romney's, somehow that's something to make fun of.

Yes, there was something special about 2008. It was a groundbreaking and historical run. And obviously a person can only break new ground and make history once. Anything being done for the second time doesn't have the same appeal. Obama's second inauguration also will not draw the massive crowd that the first one did, for the same reason.

Pathetic.
