But of course, as far as actual "hate speech" goes, the only place one can actually usually find it, within mainstream political discourse, is on the Left and in the Democratic party, at least as far as any facts or documentary evidence goes.

Only leftists and Democrats can get away with this kind of thing in public. Such is the double standard entrenched within the mainstream media and the default position of the overarching culture.

The one thing interesting about envy, and especially class envy that ranges across entire groups of other human beings who have done nothing more than develop and apply different talents and choose a different path in life that happened to be rewarded by the free market in a variable way, is that, unlike true greed, lust, or other debased, carnal passions, envy can be satisfied with nothing more than the destruction and misery of others. It need not demand that the property of others be plundered and "redistributed" to them (although this is a nice icing on the cake), but only requires that someone with more of this world's goods be made to suffer loss and harm. Greed and lust desire. Envy is satisfied with destruction, loss, and the misfortune of others.

Envy giggles and hops from toe to toe as the rich person's house burns to the ground, and takes no thought of all the stuff one could have taken by ransacking it (remember what one of the L.A. rioters told a reporter when interviewed, that the mob was just taking back "what was ours"?) before the flames took hold. Its enough that the rich person has now been cut down to size and punished for having happened to have succeeded financially more than the "working people" or "the poor" who have gathered outside to watch - with a dark and satisfied glee - the dreams of a lifetime of hard work, preparation, and industry go up in flames.

Envy - the psychological and emotional basis of all socialist theory - would tear down civilization itself (as this week's DNC has made amply clear, over and over again) in the pursuit of "fairness." But then, envy is a displaced representation of the very "greed" the collectivist pseudo-morality of the Left claims to abhor.

The Democrats seek vast, concentrated, unaccountable power. The politics of envy (displaced, morally sanitized greed) are one of the primary appeals to a certain type of mind and personality.

The Democrats know the constituencies to whom they speak.
