Talk about a sheep in wolves clothing: This film clip represents a blatant attack on all things conservative. Sean Hannity would give it a three thumbs down.

Strange..... That was actually a Conservative Film/Speech.
The speech promoted:
- Technology - Many Liberals eschew technology, wanting us to be more "primative" so we can save the planet.
- Machines - Again liberals hate such, machines and technology hurt Mother Earth.
- Company's making the world better - Liberals hate company's
- Democracy - Liberals love socialism and communism
- Liberty - Liberals hate liberty, but think all aspects of our lives should be force controlled by the state to create Utopia
- Critical of Slavery - Liberals were the primary slavers and racists of history.
- God & Scripture - Most liberals can't stand God or religion
Those are the things I could remember off hand that clearly are not "liberal" ideals.
The only thing "potentially" liberal I saw in the film was Peace, Love, Progress, etc. statements, all of what belong to conservatism also.
So, why don't YOU tell us all the "anti-Conservative" statements in the speech?
I didn't see any, and as I show I saw the exact opposite.
Further, you doing this is a good object lesson. Most liberals aren't actually liberals but are conservatives if they weren't brainwashed by liberalism, and if they actually understood the two sides.
Thus, if you think that speech was anti-conservative, then you are seriously confused and actually a conservative, because that speech was entirely a conservative speech. There was ZERO "liberal" in it, other than "general" feel good statements that anyone of good will on the planet believes, including conservatives.

Charlie Chaplin was a leftist.

Probably in many things but not necessarily in all things.
Further, we are not talking Charlie Chaplin here, we are talking about
the Speech in question.
It was conservative. Now try to debunk that instead of creating diversions because you know you've been debunked.
Do we know if "he" even wrote that speech? Most actors don't write their lines either.
One other thing.... A "leftist" back then would today be considered "Moderate" given how far the Democrat party has gone. JFK for example would be considered a Bush Republican.

He's directed his speaking in The Great Dictator specifically against Nazism and Hitler. Let us not forget that the Nazis were Socialists and just as much part of the Left as Communism is.

Also an important fact, thank you BCspace......
Clearly all the facts presented debunks the claim that this speech was in any way "anti-conservative".
It was actually Anti-Liberal.

It really is like The Little Engine That Could. Every time I think the board has hit bottom with stupid assertions, I am proven wrong.

So what you mean is that Charlie Chaplin was not a true Scotsman.
How about FDR, whom Chaplin supported? You would consider him to be a moderate, wouldn't you?

Charlie Chaplin was blacklisted for leftwing beliefs during the McCarthyism era. He was denied reentry into the United States when caught traveling abroad. The House on Un-American Activities Committee investigated him for, among other things, allegedly putting communist propaganda in his films.
America banished one of its most important artists because of his leftist views and now it turns out he was a conservative all along. Go figure.

He wrote and directed the film, so yes.
