When I first saw the Title to this Thread, I thought that this Thread was going to be about the Pension crisis in Illinois. Illinois really needs to get in Compliance about solving the Pension crisis that they have there.

One reasonable solution to their pension crisis would be to increase taxes on Democrats registered as such for the last 30 years or so; the very people who voted and advocated for a huge welfare state and other spending increases.

In excess of 5,000 Americans killed by guns since the school massacre in New England. When is the country going to tackle the issue of irresponsibility with regard to gun ownership? How many deaths are required before the country wakes up to the fact that Americans are not responsible enough to freely own guns?

Suicides: Hard to think of an easier unregulated way to carry out that choice (you do believe in choice don't you?)
Accidents: Teach gun safety.
Murder: Mostly in localized areas were there is strict gun control and/or cultural deficiencies (such as liberalism) that conflict with the notion of civilized society and Democracy.

You are not really suggesting that countries which choose (by your definition) a more liberal approach are less civilized and democratic than the US are you? Have you lived (other than perhaps a regulated "missionary" experience) in any other country.

The Deseret News (the one and only true newspaper) published in April a listing of the states with the least restrictive gun laws. In descending order they listed the top ten as: Wisconsin. Idaho. Kentucky. Louisiana. Montana. North Dakota. Oklahoma. Arizona. Alaska. Utah.

In comparison the Daily Beast lists the top twenty states in which you are most likely to die from a gunshot wound...it is not broken down by murder, accident or any other reason. It's list is by rank 1-20: Mississippi. Arizona. Alaska. Arkansas. Louisiana. New Mexico. Alabama. Nevada. Montana. Wyoming. Kentucky. West Virginia. Tennessee. Oklahoma. Idaho. Georgia. Missouri.. South Carolina . North Carolina. Florida.

Seven of the states with the least restrictive gun laws appear in the top twenty of states where a person is most likely to die from a gunshot wound.

Now I realize that figures can be used to demonstrate almost anything depending on the bias of the one assembling them...something that people like the NRA are very good at also. My argument is based on only one statistic and one premise...the massive number of people who die as a result of firearms in America every year (whatever means or purpose) means) is insane and makes comparable numbers in any other civilized western nation pale by comparison and demonstrates clearly to me that Americans are not responsible enough to be permitted to own them.

Without a shred of doubt.

Yes.

Such idiocy does not deserve additional response.
