Malala Yousafzai and the Nobel Peace Prize

When Malala was shot, I was living just next door in Oman. Even for Muslims who rarely speak out against Islamic fundamentalists, this was seen as a large step over the line. People throughout the Gulf States rallied to defend and support her.
With her courage and determination, she has certainly opened the eyes and the hearts of many Muslims who would not otherwise care much about the plight of Muslim females in the Middle East.
I don't care if she is only 16, she has done more to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize in her young life than many who received it when they are much older. Her address to the UN was worthy of one much older and more experienced in statesmanship.
She has already made a difference, for the better, in the attitudes of millions of people. She continues to provide a much needed object lesson in how one stands up against the fruits of fundamentalist religion.
What a kid.
