Last week two young teachers get arrested

An attractive girl (Katherine Ross Ridenhour, 23 years) from North Carolina gets arrested for having sex with a 17 year old boy. Ending her career as a teacher was simply not enough, they had to arrest her and will likely end up in the sex offender as a dangerous predator

Another girl (22 years old) gets arrested. She"is charged with rape in the second degree, possession of child pornography and soliciting sex from a minor using technology". The girl is being charged with child porn because she, "admitted to the sexual relationship, as well as sending photos of herself in her bra and panties. She said she had received photos of the boy’s genitalia."
I understand it is not right and it is very inappropriate for adults to have sex with teenagers, but what harm are two attractive teachers doing to 17 year old boys? Makes no sense. The boys didn't complain, it was the parents. Like EAllusion said, "19 year olds having the rest of their lives made immeasurably worse due to a loss of education, employment, and living opportunities because they had sex with their 16 year old girlfriend and her parents got mad needs to stop now." Had the 17 years olds been a couple of months older (18 years old in other words) the teachers wouldn't have been arrested. See TYT video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsfvmNbECIgWe already have a mass incarceration problem in America, we don't need to make it worst by locking up young women.

You know what, I isolated this part of the OP and I find myself struggling to figure out where to even begin addressing it because I think that you should know why this is a crime. It's not just "not right" or "very inappropriate". It's a breach of contract, a violation of ethics, it's a crime by a person in a position of trust, a mandated reporter.
Of course the parents complained. They entrusted the well being of their child to the teachers.
Someone else is going to have to take this. I can't argue what should be the obvious.

I understand it is a crime Jersey Girl. It is inappropriate and it is a crime too. However, my gut feelings is that the two young girls don't deserve to go to prison, nor do they deserve the sex offender list for the rest of their lives. I feel US law is too harsh sometimes. Well being? In North Carolina the age of consent is 16 years, the guy is 17 years old.

DT, would you feel the same way if the teachers had been male and the students female?

They aren't young girls. They are adults. Adults who contracted with a school system (and by extension contracted with parents and the community at large) to teach and provide for the well being of their students. They are mandated reporters. They violated their professional ethics.
This isn't a matter of two young girls behaving like the 19 year old boy having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend. This is a matter of two professionals violating every condition of their employment and their responsibility to and with their students as well as their parents.
It's a crime because it's a crime. As well it should be.
If these two women were doctors, would you see it differently?

So if it's a homosexual relationship is it okay?
Gay or straight, I think it's not okay. Yes, young men are much more likely to want sex without a romantic entanglement, but if you think student/teacher high school sex is okay, you're not looking at what that relationship does when it becomes public. What does every student who is not having sex with the teacher think? Can you objectively grade a student with whom you are sleeping? What happens if the teacher transmits a STD to a student?
And it's important to point out this is also a power and control situation, albeit often with more willing participants. People can use power as a weapon, and they can use sex as a weapon within a relationship. There are just a lot of reasons why we can't condone this type of relationship.

I understand it is against the law Jersey Girl, but how harsh should be punishment be? Should they go to prison for years? Should they be in the sex offender for the rest of their lives?
Here two TYT reporters disagree that young attractive teachers deserve to go to jail

DT, should the severity of the sentences depend on how attractive the teachers are?

Transmitting STDs is separate charge. A lot of parents let their teenagers drive without a drivers licence, but no one condemns them with "what if they get in a traffic accident". Would you condemn parents for allowing their 15 year old son to drive?
See TYT video, to me they are making a lot of sense here
