I'm so sorry to hear this Kevin. As others have said, the good news is that the prognosis is good and you're probably going to be OK. Except for now being called Uniball from now on. That'll suck a little.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

What a surreal experience when one is first told. Will they immediately do surgery? Any radiation? Chemo?

When I was diagnosed they used a Tumor/Node/Metastasis (TNM) staging system. I was T3, N1, M0 - over all stage 3 rectal cancer. My doctors told me others in my situation had 65% odds of surviving past 5 years.

Radiation, Chemo, three major abdominal surgeries and 5.5 years later, I'm still here.

If you ever want to talk, holler.

I think we think we're prepared, but it's one thing to abstractly understand we're all going to die, and it's another to get a knock at the door, you open it, and it's the Grim Reaper who says, "Let's talk."

Sorry Kevin...it is times like these that put life into perspective, and what is truly important.

I have heard the expression many times "I'd give my left nut for (something?)" I hope you get a long, very long happy and healthy life in the exchange. The odds are great that's what you will get. I send my blessings to you.

This is a shock to me, too (to hear this about you). As with everyone else, I wish you the best for a speedy and complete recovery.

As someone else asked, what symptom(s) did you have that convinced you to get checked?
