Network Propaganda

Post by _EAllusion »

The authors of this study I've linked a few times have written a book-length, um, book on the same subject of asymmetric radicalization and disinformation in the right-wing media ecosystem. It's called Network Propaganda: Manipulation, Disinformation, and Radicalization in American Politics.

Happily, the book is currently available for free at this link here:

https://play.google.com/books/reader?id ... pg=GBS.PP1

I'm about half way through and it's fantastic. Also, deeply disconcerting, but fantastic.

Geez, can't you guys just accept that you lost in 2016, and that you lost on your own merits?
This lopsided "academic" notion for right wing exclusivity, or even a mostly right wing, occurrence of propaganda in the media is tiresome. Mutually exchangeable between left and right are propaganda terms like illegal-immigrant, racist-cop, entitlement, corporation. etc... Just look at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who is in step with Trump's twitter-media strategy. How insightful, nay arrogant, for yet another academic (with a grant) to illuminate us all that the media is being used to distribute Republican and Democratic political messages...quick, somebody tell the newspaper cartoonists.
Seek freedom and become captive of your desires...seek discipline and find your liberty
I can tell if a person is judgmental just by looking at them

Extensive evidence is annoying to you, isn't it?

Mutually exchangeable between left and right are propaganda

If only somebody linked a book's worth of data and analysis showing that this is asymmetric and not merely a "both sides" phenomenon.
