SOTU Reactions?

The one line that stood out:

An economic miracle is taking place in the United States, and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics, or ridiculous, partisan investigations. If there is going to be peace in legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just does not work that way.

Hmm...I'm sure people are going to asking for the President to elaborate...

Sometimes it's hard for me to know how the President is doing, because he never does very well with me, so I have to step back and imagine how he's doing with everyone else. It was a long speech, with kudos for WWII vets, concentration camp survivors and many truly heartfelt stories. I'll be curious to see some fact-checking, however. I think he did well in parts, but ultimately this was the world of the teleprompter, and we know the world of the teleprompter is not the world of the tweet.

There are bipartisan accomplishments: Legislation for the opiate crisis, and judicial sentencing reform. There may be areas were bipartisanship will be possible, and hopefully something can be done to avert another shutdown.

But there are some large divides in this country that were pretty obvious just from the demographic makeup of both sides of the aisle. I think there are some possible areas where there can be compromise, but ultimately not a lot changed tonight.

All you have to do is look a Drudge, and then look at MSNBC and, well, that's the real state of the Union.

Predictable and self serving. Both sides.

I think Trump's staff had a brilliant idea of adding a bouncing cheeseburger to the teleprompter to help keep Trump from straying off the speech they wrote.

Trump broke from usual "about Trump" message and approached many topics that were larger than himself and had broad appeal, even bipartisan. Of course details were lacking because its a SOTU...but mostly the focus was Presidential. I think Coulter's irritated reaction affirms this notion.
Abrams made it all about herself, even with the shameless plug for "her" voter organization - but mostly showed how the Democrats have no imagination and no vision for 202 other than "not Trump". - as evidenced here :

Defeating Trump is more important than issues for most Democratic voters, poll finds
A majority (57 percent) of registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents said they want the nominee to be someone who can beat Trump, even if they don't agree with the candidate on most issues.

Yes, majority of Democrats would toss their principles and platform to the side, simply because of Trump, because they have been suckered by the avalanche of unproven accusations and unfounded allegations that have become so tedious and desperate that all the issues have left the building. Just look at the latest headlines dues to the fact that Stormy, Russia, North Korea, Manafort, Cohen, Kavanaugh, Jobs, Climate, Armageddon, and Hell-fire have all lost traction on the rather shallow climb to truth and reality - now the battle-cry is (once again) campaign finance and these new documents will surely (unlike the countless times before) be the "Gotcha!". Gotta hand it to Obama, you guys sure bought into "Hope' as being a major factor in securing your vote....and now the majority of you would rather "hope" it will better when a candidate who didn't even share your position on the issues would be in office.....irony being, he is already there.
idiots.

Hmm. This looks familiar. Let me try something, here:

Yep. That works, too. Looks like a syndrome that has been around for a while.

Congrats on existing firmly within the grip of the problem you’re complaining about.

I listened to some of it, but didn't see any of it.

Did they end up having the little bottom screen scroll of people's names that gave Trump at least $1.00?

I couldn't watch that idiot try to fumble through a teleprompter. But I did see him getting trolled by all the Democrat freshmen women who applauded. He was so stupid, he didn't realize they were thanking him for getting them elected. They are the democratic result if his dumpster-fire administration.

He is also dumb enough to think a record number of employed women has something to do with him, instead of population growth.

If there is going to be peace in legislation, there cannot be war and investigation.

Kanye West wrote that part of the speech.
