Still a better love story than "Twilight".
Paranoid fantasies can make for great cinematic dystopian nightmares. Ron Ormond has constructed a Hellfire and Brimstone Universe somewhere between the Left Behind novels and one of the Red Dawn movies.
It begins with a montage of terrified citizens who appear to have all shopped at the same department store. These poor folks are being driven down a road through a forest by Cossacks on horseback. Those Communist horses evidently travel well.
Later there are shots of children lying on the ground with their eyes closed, their faces splattered with ketchup, killed by the Communists for refusing to give up their faith in Jesus Christ. No mention of what they did to the agnostics. Maybe they just covered them with mustard.
Not too long after witnessing the chilling scene above, my interest began to wane about 5 minutes into the movie. Basically your choice comes down to staying true to your Christian faith and being killed, or denying your faith and going to hell, which we are assured is much worse than Communism.
I do recommend reading about the auteur Ron Ormond. Imagine Ed Wood having a mid-life religious conversion. In the cinematic universe, this film could be the religious cousin of Plan 9 from Outer Space.
