Oh my god. - Tiger

Post by _Doctor CamNC4Me »

I'm actually misty eyed. Those assholes on CBS keep replaying the hug between him and his father in '97, and then juxtaposing it against him hugging his kids today.

5 damned wins. What a day. What week.

I can think of nothing in the contemporary sports world today that is more mundane and void of morality than Tiger winning today.

I think I'm just inspired by his bouncing back from some serious moral issues, drug addiction, and crazy physical challenges. His greatness today, and throughout the week, was absolutely legendary.

I didn't watch it, just caught the headline after seeing he was making a run during the week. Good for him.

As an aside, I've found the idea that Tiger Woods should be specially singled out as an example of moral depravity to be a bit...well. Let's just say that I heard the most about it from a few gents who were the type who get their rocks off bemoaning the indecent dress of young women these days, the immorality of female school teachers boning some 17 year old, and otherwise seem to be just this side of using it as wank material. I tend to think South Park got that one right, too.

I think you idolize him because you're probably convinced (given the internet circles you travel in) he's a victim of female abuse. Tell it like it is. He suffered unjustifiably when his wife beat the crap out of him for screwing around with a dozen porn stars. Now shed tears for this martyr.

Besides, golf is hardly a manly sport. And you've made it perfectly clear you're the manliest man on the forum.

I am aware that Tiger's marital infidelity score was probably higher than his PGA average, but 2 years ago Woods did not know if he would every play golf again. Sometimes there are moments that are not made by men who are perfect heroes, but the moments themselves are mythic.

Ken Venturi's walk up the 18th fairway at the '64 U.S. Open was the most dramatic moment, but this one is right up there.

I think Kevin "give Communism a chance" is the poster boy boy for mental illness that goes untreated. You're what happens when someone drinks the kool-aid. You were a rabid Mormon, and then a rabid anti-Mormon, and now you're a rabid Leftist. You seem to bounce from one outlet to the other that facilitates your abusive and vicious nature. It's actually pretty fascinating. I'm certain many people throughout your life have suggested you get help, but I actually think that'd be a waste of resources and time. I think you're just going to see this through, and it's because you found the perfect cover for your sociopathy. You're the kind of guy, no joke, that we find out later had a shipping container in the woods where he kept the very 'things' he used to defend as 'toys' to be abused. Words just wouldn't be enough for someone like you, would they now?

eta: One should note that Kevin Graham's racism has manifested again. He just can't stand that a Black man won the Masters. It strikes at his core that a Black man has overcome personal difficulties to win a Major again. His racism is sick and disgusting. Sad. :(

If you look at the list of his injuries it's pretty, uh, extensive:

https://www.pga.com/news/pga-tour/compl ... s-injuries

This is the one that I thought would do him, for sure:

April 20, 2017: Woods undergoes a fourth back surgery. The spinal fusion, labeled "a success" was to alleviate pain he had been experiencing in his back and leg.

I knew a lot of fellas with back issues who ended up going under the knife. I can't think of one of them that were the same afterward. The fact that he underwent SO many kinds of surgeries, that literally affect your mechanics, and was able to essentially re-learn how to play golf and then actually win the Masters? It's absolutely astonishing (which makes Kevin Graham's racist comments above all the more appalling).

Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:I think I'm just inspired by his bouncing back from some serious moral issues,

what indication is there that he has "bounced back" from these moral issues? Is the divorce and lack of cheating on a wife how you are measuring this?

Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:drug addiction,

I am assuming we are just taking his word on this?

Doctor CamNC4Me wrote:and crazy physical challenges.

repetitive sport injuries aren't crazy in modern sports - and neither are recoveries. But perhaps I missed something - what was "crazy"?

huh?

Legendary is the narrative not the singular moment. Without the back story today's win would have been (pardon), par for the course. But i get it, the colored guy plays golf and everybody loves a "comeback" even its a force-fed storyline.
Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying he didn't deserve the win and that he hasn't done a lot to sell nike golf apparel, butmy original claim stands with regards to sports. An older guy who has a proven track record winning at 'golf' is not that impressive except inasmuch as it feeds a media/consumer driven character story.
But maybe I am missing something...elaborate on the sportsworld significance here (apart from the 6 hour event coverage with additional 4 hour post summary).

mythic? geez. Rich sports figure able to afford best sports surgery and aftercare is not mythic. Having your own private golf course, trainers, and time to recover does not exactly build "the moment"....tv production and a generation of Div 2 college golf wannabes who overspend on ruining nice walks on fairways are the substance of this fable.
