Flynn Walks

Because the rule of law is just something we bring up when we're mad at Democrats and dark people.

Apparently Criminal Presidents are empowered to let their criminal confederates escape the law.

One of the more important takeaways here is how free they feel to be so openly corrupt at this point. Not even a fig leaf involved. You don't get to this level of brazenness in a mafia state without the ruling regime feeling a certain level of impunity. Those feelings don't come from nowhere.

The next logical step is prosecuting political enemies on thin pretexts. We've seen how this goes in enough other nations to get to be Cassandras during our own fall.

Yeah, I know. Flynn broke the law under the Logan Act of 1779. How awful.

You made your beds with these precedents. It's time sleep in them. It's time to bring the filthy dirty deep state dirty cops to justice. You still want to play hardball?

That didn't happen. What does happen is fascists yourself invent fictitious abuses and then use them to justify doing actual versions of them. You're relishing getting to play "hardball" secure that you won't have to hang from the gallows like your fellow-travelers have done in the past. And that's probably true, in the short term anyway, but you don't get to gloat and celebrate without people recognizing you for what you are.

Flynn's prosecution, that he pled guilty to, is not based on the Logan Act, by the way.

You can't expect Breitbart to get things right. Breitbart exists to provide information to dedicated mudball players.

On a related note, there's this:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... phone-call

Besides Trump reverting to calling the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election a "hoax" it also contains a quote from Trump promising a lot of things to come of it in the next few weeks.

Imagine if the impeachment inquiry was still going on. Heck, imagine if Congress actually was in session and not run by ostriches.

I never watch the news, so . . . Flynn met with the Russian Ambassador, and that's the charge he was brought up on, right?

He lied about his contacts with the Russian ambassador during the course of an FBI investigation into those contacts. These weren't mere inconsistencies, but systematic lies. He is known to have been discussing lifting sanctions against Russia, which is the most serious thing he lied about, when there is a ton of background evidence Trump's circle was attempting to trade election interference on their behalf for sanctions relief. Because he refused to give up any information on Trump due to convenient and implausible lapses of memory, the Mueller investigation dead-ended on that specific point. On a separate matter, he also was acting as an unregistered foreign agent of Turkey that was plotting to have an American citizen kidnaped and extradited to Turkey where he would face imprisonment along with possible torture and death. He wasn't charged for that as part of his plea bargain.

He pled into a lesser felony of lying to the FBI, to which he apologized for on multiple occasions.

One FBI agent had in their notes a reference to possibly investigating Logan Act violations, but that was not the basis for any prosecution of Flynn. Ajax and his sources, like Flynn, are just lying liars.

What's happening is the Trump admin is subverting the neutrality of law to make it so people may commit crimes on his behalf with impunity. It's literal dictatorship stuff.
