This is a testament to just how insane and how anti-science the GOP has become. No position of expertise is too important for them to install a political puppet in place instead of someone with credible expertise. The only reason this idiot was appointed by DeSantis is because of his fringe/critical view of the pandemic response. I don't understand why medical professionals are allowed to keep their license when they clearly don't even believe in medical science.

This guy was asked numerous times by Democrats if the vaccines were effective and he danced around the question with "verbal Jiu Jitsu" before Democrats finally walked out on him.

This is the same guy who was among the group of whacka-doodles back in 2020 who were pushing Hydroxychloroquine. He'll say that's effective in a second but trying to get him to admit vaccines work was like pulling teeth. He was standing among several other "doctors" with varying degrees of credibility, one of whom said "that gynecological problems like cysts and endometriosis are in fact caused by people having sex in their dreams with demons and witches" and that "alien DNA is currently used in medical treatments."

This is the America we live in now. The leading medical professional in our third largest state is pushing misinformation during a global pandemic that's literally killing more people.
