Newsweek, Democratic Congressional Candidate, Voting Rights

Barrington Martin II is going against the establishment. We will see how long they allow this.
This amounts to little more than gaslighting us into submission, into voting for a party that has long ceased to do anything for us. Because here's the ugly truth: The Democrats' agenda, specifically this new voting rights bill, is not actually about helping us Black voters or even American public. It's about helping the Democratic Party establish and maintain political power. It's not about protecting Black voters' right to vote, but about protecting what the Democrats' see as their right to those voters—in exchange for nothing.

It's disrespectful at best for the Democratic leadership, paid celebrity shills of the Democratic party, left-leaning political pundits, and more importantly, the President of the United States, to to call any of the recent voting legislation passed in multiple states "Jim Crow 2.0" when voting has been the easiest it's ever been for any American, especially any Black American. To compare anything happening today to the Jim Crow era is egregious and dastardly, a testament to how the Democratic Party has treated its most loyal base for decades.
He is not wrong. He is absolutely not wrong.

Barrington is a very interesting dude. He is going to be a force.

Make this issue #47 where you diverge from Sanders. You're propagating another Right Wing talking point.

"As the voting rights bill finally comes to the floor of the Senate, there is only one vote which will really matter. Will 50 Democrats vote to override the filibuster, protect American democracy and pass the bill, or will Manchin and Sinema vote with the GOP and let the bill die?" - Bernie Sanders

First of all, I voted for Bernie in 2016 in a primary election with a limited selection of candidates.

Why did you not vote for Barrington? That is a serious question, why did you not vote for him?

So if you're for BErnie Sanders of 2016 but against Bernie Sanders who exists in 2022 why do you bring up the fact that you support him if you no longer do?

Barrington is an idiot. Just look at his Twitter feed.

Everything you ever needed to know about the racist K Graham, in a single post.

Barrington is not an idiot. You are racist, K Graham. You need to come to terms with that at some point, but I doubt you ever will.

From his OpEd:

“Black Americans continue to do the work for the Democrats, yet all we get are symbolic victories and shoutouts during speeches. Black Americans willfully give the Democratic party their votes, do their best to ensure that Democratic politicians are elected, and all they have to show for it is a Juneteenth holiday.”

I look forward to seeing what he proposes as proper compensation to black voters, for receiving their vote.

He is not wrong about one thing: political parties exist to elect their members to political office. The rest is sophistry. All the GOP ever offers to black folks is "a rising tide lifts all boats." Except that, when we look at the numbers, the only thing rising is rich people's yachts.

The ability to intentionally disadvantage a targeted group by using facially neutral rules has been recognized for decades. His claim to the contrary simply insults the intelligence of his intended audience.

we all just have to live through it,

Do you think that there are any black residents in Atlanta that would agree with Barrington and disagree with you?

I disagree with your summary of all that the GOP ever offers. I think there are also many black "folks" as you call them that would have a different summary of what the GOP has offered.

I am not saying that you are right or wrong, Res. I do not want to get into that. I am asking, or saying an saying by asking, that even some of the people you call black folks disagree with you - can you accept THAT?

But he's a "Democrat." Yeah, right. He's as much a Democrat as Candace Owens is, who spewed these same talking points for years long before this guy borrowed them. They're both basically saying the entire black race in America is too stupid to not vote Democrat. They're not trying to appeal to black Americans, they're trying to appeal to Republicans who love hearing black people regurgitate their own mantra.
