I agree. Shades needs to accept that circumstances have changed.

He needs to change the rules, because old rules do not work any more. The trolls need to be banned or this forum will die. I am still here, but then I am an obstinate person.

To all new readers of the board!! Some Schmo is upset because his ECHO CHAMBER has been smashed into teeny tiny little pieces and he doesn’t like having to deal with other posters who don’t share his love for the insane progressive cult think that’s found on this board!! He wants me to stop using the word PROGRESSIVE in every post I write. He wants me to stop criticizing Joe Biden!! He wants me to stop talking about the constitution positively! The progressives on this board have done everything possible to make me stop posting!! They insult me on a daily basis!! They insult conservatives on a daily basis! As you read threads on this board, please understand the vast majority of posters here came from a very nice and innocent Cult we know as Mormonism and after they left Mormonism, they joined a vicious, mean, vindictive, angry cult that’s known as the progressive movement found in the Democrat party!! Me too, but it's not a board I recommend to anyone else anymore. People not logged in don't have the small luxury of banning the troll's posts, and of course everyone sees the list of topics. What a loss.

I have continued to make use of my freedom to read or not read and comment or not comment on threads on this forum. I can go for weeks or months without visiting a particular part of this board. At the same time, I visit the board almost every day. Somehow I still manage to find something interesting in it, and I am not about to let morons ruin it for me, just like most people don't let me ruin the board for them, I'd wager.

Wow, I thought that is what's been going on with you but I didn't want to assume. Guess I was right. Yes, I haven't been posting here as much as in the past simply because the threads I look into are largely unreadable to me with all the nonsense that is being posted. I have all undesired posters on ignore but their comments still show up in the posts of others especially those who take the bait or those who seem to be enjoying the back and forth game. It creates more noise on a thread and even on the forum index pages than I am willing to wade through.

I know that I went something like a week here of not posting. Did the same as you did. Looked in, logged out. I do it every day now and hardly post at all and when I do post it's usually to post an update on something. What is the point of engagement here now?

If you just look at any given forum index, in this case Paradise and Prison, you can easily see evidence of the chaos making that discourages people from engaging here. The mods are definitely doing their jobs but I know for a fact that their hands are tied in some areas and so therefore Shades himself has now taken to letting this place turn to absolute crap.

I did notice that you weren't posting. Also honor has departed the scene and Cam...CAM...one of my all time favorites in discussion/debate hasn't posted here in probably more than 2 weeks. I was really looking forward to hearing from him regarding the Ukraine invasion and applying his military insight and experiences to it.

I actually almost started a thread for him last night. I decided that maybe he is sick or something has gone wrong or maybe he just got sick of the place and voted with his feet. Who am I to drag him back? I would drag him back if I could.

The only solution to not posting at all is to create threads in SSP. I think that most of us don't because we want a rollicking good discussion and sometimes we want to just say something like Putin is a sadistic damned butcher and we can't do that in SSP.

So there you have it. In my eyes, the place has gone to total crap and NO I am not willing to discuss moderation even one more time. I've repeated myself all I'm going to. Not one person here is averse to opposing viewpoints. That's not what the trolls offer. They offer disruption for disruption's sake. They need to be put on the queue. It doesn't get simpler than that.

I get the feeling that Shades doesn't give a damn. I'm not going to take up the gauntlet. I've already done that and Shades is entirely unresponsive. As Cam said previously, for whatever reason, he's just phoning it in at this point.

It's a damn shame because I have learned so much here in this very forum regarding politics and world events. If I can't learn from it or laugh from it, I want nothing to do with it. I'm neither learning nor laughing here now.

Why? Why PM him? He'll be no more responsive than he is to a thread like this. This thread was posted as a commentary on the overall state of the board, probably this forum in particular. If he doesn't recognize that posters have left or have reduced their participation to fumes, then he's not interested in this board to start with. If he were interested, he'd be monitoring it.

He is not.

It would appear that he's content to open the door, flip on the lights, and doesn't care what inhabitants are doing to totally trash the place. There is positively NO enticement to post here any more. I see it, you see it, regular posters see it and some have left in disgust. All we're doing is at this point is keeping it on life support.

I'll be honest. I am in a couple of other online communities now and while I can't really discuss politics there, I am happily engaging elsewhere in places that boot trolls out on sight. As should be the case here. So if I want to participate during the day, I go to those places. Not here.

Shades will not allow the mods to ban obvious and persistent trolls. Face with a board full of nonsense and deliberate distraction, regular posters are giving up. This forum is therefore fading into inactivity. That will ruin it for you and for everybody.

Which is exactly what Cultellus/Binger/AtlanticMike set out to achieve. If you want this to stop, please join those of us who are PMing Shades to beg him to let the mods take action.
