Putin

Post by bill4long »

I think most people are against what Putin is doing. Disagreements exist about what to do about him.

What I have not heard from anyone is what I consider the obvious...

Kill him.

When you want a specific outcome, you need to provide an incentive.

100 million dollar bounty for Putin's head on a pike.

Problem solved within 72 hours

Hayzoos Kristos Almighty, am I the only one willing to declare the obvious?

This discussion belongs in a different forum on the board.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”

Those supporting Trump still want to glorify Putin in some manner.

No you're not. But it's not necessarily helpful to the situation for the American media or even congressmen to call for Putin's assassination publicly. It would still be better to provide Putin some kind of off ramp or exile than to make him feel boxed in/trapped because what will stop him from escalating the conflict even further? Second it's not that easy to just kill him. Look how long it took to get Osama Bin Laden and Sadaam Hussein.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Yup. After 9/11 I saw discussion forums in which people fantasised about wonderfully equipped special operatives who were going to descend upon Bin Laden out of the skies within 48 hours and take him out. They were, of course, all disappointed in the event. These ideas are just childish nonsense.

There is already a million dollar bounty on his head. Not as much as you suggest but one does exist.

Wishful thinking.
I was reading about some of Putin's lavish estates outside Russia. In all likelyhood will never go to any of these properties again. His world has shrunk to the Russian borders, and within those borders it has shrunk to those he trusts not to kill him. His world is getting smaller and smaller.

I was actually surprised to see him at the outdoor rally commemorating the invasion and annexation of Crimea. Remember there was an assassination attempt against Hitler by some of his generals. Mussolini's rule was terminated by Italians.

I would imagine that there are people in his inner circle who are not cut off from what is really happening in Ukraine. And if enough of them feel that the writing is on the wall...right now probably a few people are thinking about an assassination behind closed doors. But then what? Who takes power?

So I think there are 2 types of assassination scenarios: The first is a lone wolf with a sniper rifle. That person is probably willing to exchange their life for Putin. The chance of success I would imagine is slim. The second scenario is organized around taking power AFTER his assassination. That will take more planning. I would imagine that there are a fair number of people in his inner circle who are wondering what a post-Putin Russia would be.
