Bombshell: McCarthy Called for Trump's Resignation

Some of you may have heard about this being reported a couple of days ago, but McCarthy denied that it was true.
But now we have audio proving McCarthy's denials are just lies.
Kevin McCarthy’s Trump Denial Falls Apart In Hours With Release Of New Audio
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s latest denial fell apart in record time.
McCarthy on Thursday denied a New York Times report that said he told other lawmakers he would call on then-President Donald Trump to resign in the days after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, which had been carried out by his supporters.
But audio released shortly afterward by the Times shows otherwise.
“The only discussion I would have with him is that I think [impeachment] will pass, and it would be my recommendation you resign,” he said in a Jan. 10, 2021, phone call with GOP leaders.
He added that he didn’t think Trump would take his advice, “but I don’t know.”
The Times report by Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin was based on passages in their new book, “This Will Not Pass.”
In a statement earlier in the day, McCarthy called the report “totally false and wrong,” and his spokesperson told the Times that “McCarthy never said he’d call Trump to say he should resign.”
Here’s the audio from a Republican leadership call obtained by Burns and Martin:

This is why Republicans despise the New York Times and other "Liberal" media.

And quite right too! America is in a war to the death against the PROGRESSIVES who want to destroy the country.
Truth must take its place in the battle-line, and if necessary it must be ready to sacrifice itself to save all that we
the rich guys who back the GOP hold dear.

On the contrary, I think this story is one of many pieces of evidence that show the GOP has spun out of the rich guys' control. Giving money to the wealthy is still a Republican priority, but it is not their highest priority. Their highest priorities are shaped by the
feedback loop between the party's base voters and its propaganda organs, and the feedback loop's main grievances are cultural. Note that the base has lately been targeting the Disney Corporation for its fairly milquetoast efforts to be inclusive toward LGBTQ people (even labeling it "communist"!) and that the Republican governor of Florida has just targeted Disney financially, for that very reason. There are some rich Republican donors who are personally fanatical about the culture war, such as the Kochs and the Uihleins, but mainstream business interests are no longer the driving force in the party.

In that case things are even worse than I thought. At least rich people acting selfishly have a real and attainable objective, the maximisation and preservation of their wealth.
The primal urge of unhappy and angry people towards hate and fear has no objective limits: these are appetites that can never be satisfied, and that only grow by the very fact of being fed. The future that this leads us towards is an unpredictable outburst of violence and destruction that will devour those who thought they could control it by offering the realisation of its darkest fantasies.

This is front page news on all the legit news outlets.
Except over at FOX they don't even mention it.
Instead they're headlining a slew of "reports" with headlines containing derogatory inferences towards Democrats.

Andrew Breitbart did always tell us that politics is downstream from culture.

"
That audio recording of my own exact words in my own voice is totally false and wrong. Only the biased liberal media would report on what I said, rather than relying on what my PR team says I said. To play my own words in my own voice to a TV audience is fake news at its worst."

Andrew Breitbart ... lied about Sharon Sherrod?
Why, so he did. And then some.
Breitbart lied about Shirley Sherrod. Now he’s lying about the NAACP.
BY WILLIAM SALETAN

Andrew Breitbart made a mistake. Based on a two-minute video excerpt of Shirley Sherrod’s speech at an NAACP dinner last year, he accused her of practicing racism as a federal employee. He neglected to mention that in the excerpt, she was clearly talking about events in a different job 20 years ago. And when the rest of the video turned up, it proved that her story was about transcending her old racial resentment.
