Perhaps there is some hope for former Democrats after all.
Tulsi Gabbard Announces She’s Leaving the Democratic Party
Former Congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard announced Tuesday she is leaving the Democratic Party.
She made the revelation in a video posted on social media, outlining the details of her farewell:
I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, demonize the police and protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.
She continued:
I believe in a government that is of, by, and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government of, by, and for the powerful elite. I’m calling on my fellow common sense independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party. If you can no longer stomach the direction that so-called woke Democratic Party ideologues are taking our country, I invite you to join me.
Her video comes less than a month before the November mid-terms that will determine control of the House of Representatives for the next two years, and possibly the fate of the Biden administration’s agenda.
It also comes about eight months into Ukraine’s war with Russia, in which the U.S. has provided billions of dollars in support to Ukraine, amid a rising threat of nuclear war.

Gabbard has long been a critic of the pro-war foreign policy establishment, as well as wokeism, both currently led by the Democratic Party.

She makes some excellent points regarding “wokeism” that resonate with me. I obviously disagree with the stance on Ukraine since she’s made various false and misleading statements that Russian shills have used. I support her, 100%, to do and say what she feels is in her best interests because, you know, this is ‘merica and all that.

Huh, I thought Gabbard had left the party several years ago.

She needs the time to guest host gigs on Fox.

And in other related news, Michael Jackson is dead.
I struggled to find how this idiot was ever a Democrat in any sense.

Well my grandad was a Democrat and he hated welfare and worked full time up until two weeks before he passed away at 76. I sturggle to see how he was ever a Democrat in any sense of the word but that's how he voted.

All this does is prove the point that you have allowed your dishonest sources to convert you to the lies about what it means to be democrat.
My Mom will occasionally dumb it all down to nothing more than "Democrats want free stuff." That makes her feel better about being so ignorant on all the nuances. She does this because FOX News tells them this is all it boils down to. Yet, all of her Trump loving brothers, nieces and nephews back in Alabama are on the dole and have been for most of their lives. She even later admitted that her own father faked his "disability" for 40 years because he didn't want to work. Paw Paw used to always walk around with a limp and his wrist bent upwards, apparently a result of being electrocuted while working in some factory back in the 60's. But whenever he was by himself and thinks no one is around, he'd appear to walk normal with no limp wrist.
Her second son married into a rich family because he didn't want to work, her only daughter is a derelict in every sense of the term, I think she had one job in her 47 years and it lasted almost as long as her 6 week stint in junior college. She also married a guy in the military for all that free stuff. This was all before he divorced her for getting pregnant and having an abortion with the guy across the street. You know, those "family values." My Mom has only had one job her entire life from what I can remember, and that lasted a couple of years working at a nursing home working as a typist.
But I'm the only Democrat in the family. An anomaly. A millionaire who has successfully operated several start-up businesses and has never borrowed a dime from anyone in the family at any time. Someone who has raised three beautiful children who are all smart and anxious to take on society. None of us have ever been on the dole and likely never will be.

I'm wondering if she's planning on going Independent, or one of the 3rd parties. She is is pretty anathema to Republicanism to be embraced there. Then again, it seems that merely not being a Democrat is all it takes nowadays.
A few things she supports:
Legalizing all drugs (a la Portugal)
Ending cash bail.
Banning private prisons.
Easier path for citizenship for illegal immigrants.
The Green New Deal.
Nationalized healthcare.
She also introduced a resolution to censure Trump, and was a member of the House LGBT Equity Caucus.

Those are pretty good policy positions. Thanks for sharing, Dr. Steuss.

A lot of the things she supports are also supported by a majority of Democrats. I respect her decision to leave the party, as the party, as a whole, is not entirely without flaws. There really are some prominent Democrats who kowtow to and accept donations from selfish and self-serving corporate interests. Nevertheless, they are currently the strongest counter we currently have to MAGA Trumpist and Republican insanity and authoritarianism, which is why for the foreseeable future I am likely to vote mostly for Democrat politicians. Adam Kinsinger is one Republican I respect, and I would seriously consider voting for him if he were running in an election, I was eligible to vote in, and his opponent were a Democrat as flawed as Manchin or Sinema. If I lived in Utah right now, I would definitely vote for independent candidate, Evan McMullin, over Republican candidate, Mike Lee, and perhaps even over some Democrat candidates, were they running in that race.
