Re: Republican's censured Adam Schiff
The descent to autocracy continues unabated in the GOP.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”

You don't put an apostrophe before the "s" if the word is plural.

I, for one, would love to be censured by the likes of Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Lauren Bobert and Jim Jordan. I wonder how much of a campaign donation it would take.

Support holding someone in our government accountable? Sounds like a fantastic idea to me.
Just think, if this foreign idea of government accountability takes root among the people, it has the potential to get the power back in the hands of the people - where it belongs.

I am trying to decide why it sounds like your version of power back in the hands of the people excludes me.I will remind you that I and the many many people with left leaning politics like me are part of we the people as much as you and people with views you favor.

Yeah, but people are afraid to hold Trump accountable. So we're stuck with a bunch of cult followers protecting a douche bag who keeps escaping accountability, and the people are impotent to do anything about it.ceeboo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 3:00 pmSupport holding someone in our government accountable? Ceeboo, I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say here. Are suggesting that the Republicans were right to censure Adam Schiff? If so, I call BS on that! Absolutely no other political leaders in the storied history of our Country deserve censure more than Donald J. Trump and his sycophantic followers who continue to support, enable and make excuses for him and his peccadillos! This is only becoming more and more blazingly obvious in the ongoing comedy of GOP congressional failed attempts to halt and/or deflect from the ongoing, just indictments of Trump for crimes he has been accused of. What makes it even more hilarious is Trump's clueless propensity to make inadvertent self-incriminating remarks (much to the dismay and frustration of his own lawyers and advisors) that, if anything, are more damaging to his case than anything his accusers have or could have said! It amazes me that you and so many otherwise seemingly reasonable and articulate people seem unable to see that!ceeboo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 3:00 pmSupport holding someone in our government accountable? No! rather than being deserving of censure, Shiff deserves applause! Calling out Trump for his corruption and dishonesty is his constitutional duty, and that of all honest politicians -- especially those of Trump's own party, whose reputation and honor has already been massively damaged by association with him and will only continue to get worse until they sever that association!
And please don't reply by attempting to point out real or imagined failures by Democrats and progressives. Even if real, that is in no way justification for exonerating Trump. That is as wrong and immature as an adolescent child attempting to escape just punishment by claiming others have done the same misdeed. If Democrats or progressives are guilty of wrongdoing, I am fully on board with punishing them the same way as anyone else guilty of the same thing, if and when found guilty.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Hey huck
While you decide how things sound to you, allow me to clarify. My version of power back to the people includes all American citizens.
