David O McKay, like Elijah Lovejoy, hated the Catholic Church. Lovejoy wrote in Missouri and Illinois, against slavery and a mob killed him in 1838 for being against slavery.

but there is nothing wrong with being Catholic. One of my Favorite books, Brideshead Revisited was written by Evelyn Waugh who joined the Catholic Church in Great Britain, and was so angry when they changed the Latin Mass. Golda Meir was in Israel in 1920's, Evelyn Waugh was at Oxford in 1920's, and Benson was in Idaho where I'm typing from write now. and Vera Brittain wrote a Testament of Youth.

“Twenty years of old, life already twisted into a strange, contorted shape, like a tree growing in the sand. When he’d been Nikko’s age, he harbored a secret contempt for his father. A slave of fish buyers, the landlords, the Holy Fathers, he seemed yoked to his life like a patient ox. Now and then a sigh, but never a protest, never a curse. Krhisto had believed one could tear the yoke from one’s neck, cast it into the Dunav, be free of the weight that had to be hauled from dawn to dusk every day of the year. He’d believe his father lacked the passion, the human fire, to shed his burden, and he was ashamed to be the son of such a willing beast. Now he knew differently, of course. He learned something about yokes.”

I’m truly sorry. I just need to go for a walk instead of responding in a certain mode.

No need to be sorry. When you're in that certain mode, just make a new post here that includes a link to the post you were reacting to. Then folks can see what prompted your comment and then respond in a way that doesn't distract from the original thread's topic.

looking back. I'm sorry. The problem with Xanax for me is that I have too much, just enough, getting low, don't have any. You can go buy whiskey after 11 am but not on Sunday. Again I'm sorry.

And I don't think David O'McKay hated the Catholic Church. He might have had a touch of Catholic Derangement Syndrome when the word Catholic was mentioned. I think Greg Prince said something like that when writing McKay's biography.
Elijah Lovejoy was a contemporary of Joseph Smith's. He did write anti-catholic articles for a news paper inn St. Louis which was in Missouri, so he had problems there too from the pro-slavery group. He left to Illinois to hide his printing press and was killed in Illinois in 1837 buy a pro-slavery mob.
