Either with a computer company who I trust in Rexburg. I was looking at books on George McGovern. Our liberal candidate facing Nixon. He wrote a paper. At first I thought it was the council of foreign relations. instead it has thoughts of the issue in Palestinians in 1988. Pre Lebanon war, pre 911. It mainly interviews Arafat and his thoughts. I love history and clear thinking. Here Arafat is making his case though reportedly being born in Egypt. I need to scan the the articles, perhaps once a day. I need to make comments. I think Sh@des post in blue. Not able if I can do that. I hear read is a no-no. So I will post the pages of 1988 of Arafat on his cause. I certainly don’t agree with his thoughts.
Books to read:
A Land of our own. Edited thoughts by Golda Meir
My Life: Golda Meir
Also for all you Mormon history critics, when Golda Lived in Milwaukee after traveling from Russia, she graduated at around 14 from jr high. Here parents tried to set her up with an older business man to marry. Golda ran away to Denver to live with her older sister. Turmoil erupted when Golda went on dates every night. She moved out of her sister’s apt. Went back to Milwaukee to finish high school. In 1922, she lived in British Palestinian after making Aliyah and working as a Zionist Socialist in a kibbutz. More to follow.

What's an "Aliyah," and how do you make one?

Thanks Dr Shades. I think I wrote it write right but for the Jews of the world it means to go up and thrive in Israel - from America, Europe, Turkey, or Africa, they wanted them home in Israel. It was a very difficult road.
Golda Meir was a special woman of her time. A land of our own and My Life are essential reading. There are about ten Jews that left Eastern Europe to go to Palestine and bring Israel back to life. The first five Prime Ministers stories are incredible.
They were born in Eastern Europe around 1900, they always believed Israel was their home. They were likely socialist. They loved the land.

'Aliyah' means 'going up', used for the act of a Jewish person immigrating to Israel. Comes from:
Isaiah 2:
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
You 'make Aliyah' like you 'make a pilgrimage'.

In 1922, it meant returning to the promised land and/or Palestine.

First President of Israel David Ben-Gurion was furious at the American Jews who were not making Aliyah in the number they should be making. They came to America that still had social problems but built business and stayed. They did not have the problems of Jews, Arabs and what the British had and creating society out of sand.
