So, when you say:ajax18 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 4:30 pmJan 2021-to 2022. 2008-2010. They passed Obamacare and the Inflation production act. Yet there was no discernible plan to pay for any of it just as Biden's current economic plan shows no realistic way to pay for his massive vote purchasing legislation. Perhaps that is the real economic plan, not to tax the Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerbergs, or Warren Buffets of the world, but rather to pay for these boondoggles by inflating the currency. And who has paid the price of that? The rich aren't the ones having to work longer hours just to buy gasoline and groceries in this economy. This is ingenius politics promising people a better life and getting them to vote for it while you inflate the currency and drive up the debt. If anyone complains about it, just blame it on corporate greed and you'll never lose a vote over it.
What you really mean is, in the last 16 years, D’s have had the opportunity to enact exactly two bills in favor of their economic agenda: the ACA and the IRA. One allowed millions of Americans to access healthcare who could not afford it before. The other invested in infrastructure, jobs, and people — the kinds things that Rs have claimed for decades would happen if we just gave the rich more and more money. The trickle down economics that Reagan made popular has never come close to working as advertised, as the rich spend their massive tax cuts on buying other companies and stock buy backs.Democrats have been in power for 12 of the last 16 years.
Two opportunities in 16 years. And why? Because Mitch vowed to filibuster any bill that had the appearance of giving D’s a win. Even when D’s proposed legislation that R’s had advocated, R’s turned 180 degrees and filibustered it.
by the way, you’re flat-ass wrong in your claim that D’s had a 2/3 majority in the Senate at the time those two bills were enacted. Please explain how those two bills were able to be passed and what the R’s did with their most recent opportunity to do the same thing?
