Hello Folks!

If you've toured Concord, MA, give me your impressions, please. I've wanted to visit there for years and thinking about actually doing it this fall--mid to late September. It looks easy to get around to any point of interest of your choice. I've been to MA before (and all over New England for that matter) just not to Concord. I know to fly into Logan and take ground transportation into Concord. I know what I want to see.

So...how was it for you? What were your "must sees"?

My personal "must sees" have to do with Thoreau, Walden Pond, and other historic sites. Okay, it's mainly Thoreau. But not only Thoreau. I want to see Orchard House and you know, places like Emerson's house, North Bridge, cemeteries, whatever is around there. Eat good food, visit shops, all of that.

If you have something to share, please do!

Bunker Hill, both old State Houses, Old North Church, Fenway Park, and the Cambridge area.

My memory of Walden Pond is twenty years old so for all I know it’s now a strip mall. It was just a big pond with a trail around it. Visitors who weren’t thrilled that it was still so simple were disappointed.

I enjoyed the deCordova sculpture park more. I remember it being worth a few hours. It’s in Lincoln, next door to Concord.

Definitely not a strip mall. Of course it's simple, it's Thoreau country. Simplify! Simplify! Simplify!
