Eff the DNC
The Democratic Party does a fine job of shooting itself in the foot. I don’t know who, looking like maybe Obama, thinks that you can substitute a new nominee this late in the game and win. I think this person, whoever it is, is arrogant in the extreme. Just as, frankly, Hillary Clinton was. As I have said before, I will vote for whichever person has the best shot of beating Trump, but I will NEVER join the Democratic Party.
It is bad for America to have a dysfunctional GOP because it hides how unhealthy the DNC is as well. The vitality of the DNC is taken for granted when they can point to Marjorie Taylor-Greene or Trump and say they are obviously better than that. But what kind of challenge is that? How does it make them accountable to their own voters? I think we are seeing this pressure on Biden because of Trump and because they arrogantly believe they can take their voters for granted.
I would almost rather join the GOP and push against Trumpism from within than put up with the sanctimonious a-holes who are calling for Biden to bow out when we are on the precipice, dizzily trying to pull ourselves out of an authoritarian abyss. Go ahead, DNC, eff around and find out. Eff you.

Is there a sincere emoji? If so, imagine a whole row of them.
Replacing Biden now is an absolutely devastating move. I don't mean a little bit crippling. I mean generational. While I don't like Kish and disagree with him - he is all the way correct here. Whether one is looking at Yang, Cenk and TYT or the reps and senators in a tough district - everyone of them is playing their own game at the expense of the process. I hate Biden and his ilk, but he is a career politician who won in the process, including cheating like it was Cook County in prohibition.
The DNC has ONE, and I mean ONE, correct move here. They need to effing own it. OWN IT! We voted, we roll with what we got. We are the party that honors the process. We own this. We win. We lose. We make mistakes, but we are the party of integrity. ANYTHING less than that is going to dismantle the party. You thought basket of deplorables was bad? Jesus. You thought superdelegates were bad? Christ. You thought expelling the populists in 2020 by fiat was bad? Jesus Christ, no. Wait til you cancel the votes of EVERY democrat and choose a candidate in a board game or smoky parlor. And, if that person is Kamala, who got smoked off the stage by the populists, you better brace yourself.
FIFO is right. Kish knows. Trump knows. Trump is not going to do anything but let the DNC self destruct. They hid this mental illness, they can live with it. If the DNC rigs the process, even better for Trump, Tulsi, Yang, Vivek and everyone but that dumb Cenk. What is he doing?

Re: Eff the DNC
There is zero evidence Biden has a mental illness. None. Biden is simply a good man who is showing his age when on the debate stage.
I wish whoever is coaching him could at least tell him to shut his damn mouth. I'm not talking about when he speaks, I'm talking about when he is listening. For the love of God stop looking around in different directions with your mouth open.
I've been ignoring all media for a couple of months now because it is just too exhausting. Today I'm at Logan airport and I see a headline in one of the shops, "Biden referred to Zelensky as Putin."
I mean, so Biden is finally showing signs of aging that have been prevalent in Trump for years, but Biden is the one who has to go?
Personally I hate the fact that these are our two choices, but the media is doing its damndest to see Trump elected. The bar is set very differently for each candidate because we've all come to expect the GOP to produce crazy crazy candidates.
Herschel Walker, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Boebert, Ted Cruz, Lindsay Graham, Vance, etc. Its just expected for the GOP to back spineless morons who will suck on the teets of the Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society. Their candidates prove to be absolutely usless at governing and shameful liars. Trump's "greatest economy ever" was mediocre at best and mostly the remnants of the Obama-Biden Recovery. That's a proven fact but the media repeatedly lets him off with these lies.
But when Biden oversees the greatest economic expansion in more than half a century, produces more jobs than any first term President in history, well... let's focus on how old he acts in public and let's forget to mention the man suffers from spinal arthritis and a speech impediment, accounting for 80% of what makes people judge his as being too old to lead.

Re: Eff the DNC
I will say that I hope everyone learns from this and some how we form something better than what we have now and still keep the basics, our country being one that the world streams to with dreams of a better life; this has been going on for four hundred years now.
All though this has kind of turned nasty I don't like anyone to experience what President Biden is experiencing; if he lives another ten years he's going to need assistance. Trump, too.
I don't know how those in the center have really no say in what has been happening, as the non-candidates are being presented to us as either this one or the other. Maybe in the next ten years we can have a "neither" box to check which would bring in a new batch of candidates to consider six months later. It would be interesting if the media reported "neither" at 58%. Just like The NY Times has written that Biden should drop out of the race, They recently wrote that Trump should also drop out. I've been saying no Trump for a long time now.
We all know transparency and communication is important. The system that we have now is secretive and powerful.
Lastly, to paraphrase President Kennedy, he spoke about reading things in the newspaper; the stories were apparently leaks from someone in the White House and he wished the press hadn't printed them. He went on to say that although at times abrasive, a free press is a necessary part for a Democracy to work. To me if anyone should bear some responsibility for the situation we are in now it's those who carry the press badge. They should put their integrity in front of their party and just do their job. When they go to the White House they need to know that they are going to be abrasive.

Re: Eff the DNC
Yes! I am apoplectic with rage. Eff those effers in the DNC. Eff the media, the arrogant celebs, the late-night comedians. Who the eff do they think they are? I am done with them. They outed themselves in this BIG TIME. Democracy? Not so much. To do this after all those rank-and-file party members voted for Biden. I was upset about Bernie, and I thought their coordinated effort to keep him from spoiling the coronation of St. Hillary of the Beltway was grotesque, but I figured that this was, at the end of the day, the reality of having a party organization. You dance with the one that brought you, and Bernie, who was essentially an independent social democrat, could not really hope to be the nominee. Did it stink? Yes. And I took note. And I realized that lots of longtime Democrats cast their vote for her in the primaries. I voted for her because I knew she would be effective in the office, and she was far and away the better of the two major party candidates.
But she effing lost. And she lost because she was always a terrible candidate in terms of her campaigning abilities. Hell, there are places she lost that she never visited, probably because she figured there was no way she could lose. But this was so freaking stupid. So arrogant. I remember that film of her lecturing a Black activist, and even though I knew what she was saying was true in practical terms, her attitude oozed entitlement and condescension. You have to work hard, in fact, to avoid looking like an out of touch elitist, and she just didn’t pull it off.
So she loses, and the Democratic Party spends all of this time pulling its collective hair out and going after the Russia thing. Now, unlike some, I think Russia did meddle in the election, but that is not really why Hillary lost. She lost because she is a terrible candidate who would have been a good president. But you have to win!
You have to win!
So, I gave them a pass for Hillary, even though it turned out exactly as I feared it might, but I chalked it up to an understandable result of the structure of a major political party and its fundraising. But this is different. Here the Democrats have a very successful incumbent whom all these rank-and-file party members voted for, and yet all the self-important elites are lining up to chuck him out the window, even though history strongly suggests that they are setting themselves up to lose by doing so.
And they are doing it because they are arrogant and, honestly, embarrassed by the old man Biden has become.
So, eff’em. They don’t truly believe in democracy. Of the two parties, the Democratic Party will undoubtedly spend its victory shoring up the status quo of democracy such as it is. No doubt that will be better than having Christo-fascists turning the country into a twisted religious theme park where the part of Walt Disney will be played by the carnival barker Orange Mussolini.
But both of these organizations are rotten. They are locked in a death embrace. And they need to be dismantled.

Re: Eff the DNC
I agree with the thrust of this thread, I know Biden is going to get all this focus for the smallest mistakes, sometimes justly so, but probably be under a microscope, and the media doesn't even shrug their shoulders when Trump says things like Don Jr. has a good wife (he has a fiancé), or when he calls someone by someone else's name.
One thing in these calls is there isn't a lot of, "and here is who, or how we select a nominee that can win." It's easy to get a bunch of people to say Biden needs to go, but can they get behind one candidate quickly? At one of the places I worked we instituted a rule, when it was time for lunch if you didn't like the current suggestion you had to suggest an alternative that at least half the group could agree to. Instead of spending sometimes 10 minutes of lunch trying to figure out where we were going we suddenly had a decision everyone could live with in a minute or two.

Re: Eff the DNC
The cable news networks are propaganda mills designed to make money above all. They have been a bad joke since the aughts at least. Their coverage of Occupy Wall Street was shamelessly transparent in its denigration of regular people in service of the networks’ owners and their cronies. We have been collectively effed over so many times it is not funny. George Carlin was absolutely right. I try very hard not to be cynical, but they all completely lost me here. Right now I would have a hard time not punching Jon Stewart in the face.yellowstone123 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 12:14 pmI will say that I hope everyone learns from this and some how we form something better than what we have now and still keep the basics, our country being one that the world streams to with dreams of a better life; this has been going on for four hundred years now.

This is why I post here. Give me a person who comes here and insults me directly. Who votes for Trump when I think Trump is the worst. We are in this together. The people trying to get us to hate each other are manipulating us for THEIR benefit, not ours. They really don’t give a crap about us at the end of the day. They have wrought an America in which they make the decisions and retreat behind their moats while the village burns. They watch sipping artisanal lattes and tut-tutting, “if only the rubes would listen to us and do X, then we wouldn’t have this mess” (that they created).
