Assad Regime Toppled
New uncertainty in the Middle East as Assad flees and rebel leaders seize Damascus. We are in for interesting times internationally. Russia’s investment in Ukraine came at the cost of losing its puppet in the Middle East. Now we can look forward to another Islamist regime. What kind of relationship will this one have with Iran and Israel? Al Julani is likely to be the new leader, but what kind of leader will he prove to be?

It's hard to say, and I am unfortunately not that well informed. He has been governing the regions he holds relatively responsibly, but that does not mean he won't be an authoritarian leader of a theocratic regime.
