Gay people are no longer safe in Trumpland.

The US Department of State has banned consular posts from flying any flags other than that of the US as part of the Trump administration’s pledge to crack down on diversity efforts in government institutions.

A cable seen by the Guardian titled “One flag policy” appears to target several instances during the Biden administration when gay pride and Black Lives Matters flags were flown at embassies abroad.

Gay pride flags were also on display at the White House during a 2023 Pride month celebration held on the south lawn, sparking a backlash from conservatives.

How long before gay marriage is outlawed again?
How long before Trumpland bans foreign embassies from flying Pride flags?
How long before institutions flying Pride flags are targeted by morons similar to the J6 rioters?

Could you elaborate on the reasons for a diplomatic building to display a pride or BLM flag?

Certainly.
The U.S. government and the U.S. Embassy reaffirm the human rights and fundamental freedoms of LGBTQI+ persons. Our support for the LGBTQI+ community rests on a simple and fundamental belief: that all human beings should be treated with respect and dignity, and should be able to live without fear no matter who they are or who they love.

U.S. and pride flags fly on a pole in front of the embassy buildingThe United States is committed to pursuing equity for all. In flying the Pride Flag during the month of June, we hope to highlight the contributions of LGBTQI+ persons around the world and open a space for honest conversations about the unique challenges they face. This is a worldwide effort by the Biden Administration; every U.S. mission has been invited to fly the Pride Flag or light up their embassies with rainbow colors this month in support of the LGBTQI+ community.

The struggle to end violence, discrimination, and stigma against LGBTQI+ persons is a global challenge, and one that remains central to our commitment to promote human rights, democracy, and fundamental freedoms for all individuals.

I’m guessing that you won’t understand why this important. I’m guessing you’re a white, heterosexual. I’m guessing you haven’t had someone within your family or friendship circle beaten to death by police offices because of their sexual preference?

I’m guessing you haven’t had family or friends burnt to death by an arsonist because of their sexual preference?

I’m guessing you haven’t had newspapers run campaigns against your family and friends because of their sexual preferences?

June 2023
Pauly Likens, a 14-year-old transgender girl from Pennsylvania, was murdered by sharp force trauma to her neck and her corpse was dismembered. Her alleged murderer has been charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. Pennsylvania does not currently have a hate-crime statute. Governor Josh Shapiro spoke out for expansion of the laws to cover LGBTQ+ individuals following her death.

And on…and on…and on…

These symbols of solidarity by government are impirtant to send the message that hate crimes against disenfranchised and persecuted minorities will not be tolerated by the government. Removing them sends the opposite message. The only downside to displaying those flags is that the white supremacists and homophobes get a bit upset - but they are the core votes for Dear Leader Trump.

in my opinion, laws would be a better deterrent to hate crimes. Oh, wait, we have those. You did mention above that PA does not have a hate crime statute related to LGBTQ+. What constructive efforts are you personally taking to change that?

Nothing. It’s not my country. I’m simply bumping my gums on a message board.

What are you doing about it?

The thread title reads "no longer safe" yet your wiki link of violence on Gays shows that more than twice as many were murdered during Biden's 4 years, than the previous 4 years of Trump. I'm not sure how that correlates with your title?

These are the gay nominees for his new administration, which shows Trump does not care what ones sexual preference is.

Scott Bessent, 62, treasury secretary. If confirmed, the hedge fund manager would be the highest-ranking openly gay official in US history.
Ric Grenell, 58, presidential envoy for special missions. He was Trump’s director of national intelligence during his first term.
Tammy Bruce, 62, the new State Department spokesperson was a Fox News contributor.
Jacob Helberg, 35, undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment.
Bill White, 57, ambassador to Belgium.
Art Fisher, 49, ambassador to Austria.

My understanding is that Trump wants people in leadership positions because of their abilities, not because of their sexual identity.

Given his unscientific and misleading statements, including COVID-19 misinformation, affirming antisemitic, homophobic and transphobic comments, and promoting conspiracy theories, in what way(s) is Elon Musk qualified to run a department of government efficiency?

For reference, here is what Trump did last time round…

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/do ... ride-month

As an example:
In July 2017, Trump announced he would ban transgender people from serving in the military in any capacity, thereby reversing a policy created under the Obama administration. He claimed he had consulted "[his] generals" and determined that transgender people would harm troop readiness. But his top general wasn’t consulted, and federal courts found no evidence to support the president’s claims. One judge called the president’s claims "capricious, arbitrary, and unqualified," and added they were “shocking.” Four courts blocked his ban, but the Justice Department is still fighting to enact it and the Pentagon has issued recommendations on how to fully implement the policy.
If the facts don’t support what you want to do, Lie Baby, Lie!

On the other forum, I just presented a fabricated analogy to explain why Trump was elected. Now, I’d like to share a true story analogy that illustrates why Trump was elected. This will help you understand that it's not just Republicans and independents who are weary of the progressive narrative, even common sense Democrats like myself are fed up with the extreme behavior.

During my time as a Mormon, my wife and I had mostly wonderful children as they were growing up. However, our youngest child entered a phase where, for years, this kid focused solely on himself. His actions were entirely self-serving, as he believed he had every right to behave that way. Family members would open the refrigerator, and his personal food would be labeled with DO NOT EAT, THIS FOOD IS PERSONAL PROPERTY! He shared a Jack and Jill bathroom with one of his siblings but never took the initiative to clean it, leaving the responsibility entirely to the child in the other bedroom. He would become upset if his clothes were laundered alongside those of others. During our road trips, everyone was aware of the time to be in the car, yet we often found ourselves waiting 15 to 20 minutes for him to emerge from the house. This was a consistent occurrence, and it was clear to everyone that he was doing it intentionally.

The current perception of progressives by the American electorate in 2024 resembles how my family viewed my youngest son, as a spoiled and entitled individual who lacks the capacity to think beyond his own needs and concerns. Progressives have developed a tendency to irritate the entire family with a sense of entitlement that resembles that of a spoiled youngest child.

The reality is this. With a population of 360 million, the US flag symbolizes each and every one of us. If you fail to grasp that, then you'll never comprehend the reasons behind Trump's election.
