Usually Built From Scratch

Elon Musk has denied that he has any plans to buy TikTok.

See https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/b ... 025-02-08/

Reading in this piece, which is substandard, in my opinion, I came across the following claim from Muskrat:
I usually build companies from scratch.
Tesla, founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

Twitter, founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams.

OK, he did found SpaceX and Neuralink. Still, "usually"? Two of his most well known companies were founded by others.

The article, of course, does not fact check or call into question his claim, which is why I criticize it.

And what does "by scratch" mean? SpaceX evolved out of his interactions with the Mars Society. He relied on a lot of help from Robert Zubrin and Jim Cantrell.

Trump says this too. Their egos are so fragile that they can’t even acknowledge the vast resources and privilege that rocketed them to their current positions of power. It’s much more satisfying if they can convince themselves and others that their success was entirely of their own making.

Amongst their supporters it fosters an almost religious devotion, how else could these Great Men have created so much from nothing? They must be super-men, and it’s the right choice to give them ultimate power over humanity.

I think you make a great point there.

I said a couple years ago that Musk struck me as Steve Jobs 2.0, taking credit for the brilliance of the people around him. I had no idea how right I was. If he's a genius, he's the dumbest one I've ever heard speak.
